Man, that's frustrating. Sorry for what you're going through because I've been there. I've found that just breaking the chain of what I'm doing can sometimes help me get off a plateau. Try a different workout for a little while (swimming?) and see if that helps. I've also found (and I'm not suggesting this for everyone) that eating more to the 1200-1500 calorie limit for a few days can convince my body I'm not starving.

What I've also found is that my body seems to present weight loss in one of two ways. It's either the scale goes down, or I lose inches. Usually when I'm on a plateau, my body is rearranging itself and my pants start fitting more loosely.

Good luck buddy. This is why weight loss is so hard. Hopefully it'll pass soon.

D.

I agree with the raising your calorie intake and make sure you are getting in your Protein. Expecially if you are working out your are burning calories.

If you can't get in more calories and Protein is a great way to get in calories as well, then I would say start your day with a high Protein shake like 50gr of protein and then the rest of the day can be add ons. I use Isopure no carb no sugar and it is 230 calories for 2 scoops of powder.

Guys need more calories than the gals. It might be OK to go on a 3 day diet of 900 calories, but to make it a monthly target won't work. I'm speaking from my own personal experience of course so I have no scientific evidence to back this up. I've found that 1200-1400 calories a day works best for me. I lose slower than some but it's been consistent.

I work out hard though. I spend 3 days a week in the gym and add another 5 days of bike riding to that gym workout. I average about 800 calories burned per day.

Try not to compare your future weight loss to how much you lost the first 6 weeks. Pre and post op weight loss is mostly Water. You may have lost 5 or 6 lbs of fat but most of that loss is Fluid.

Just remember that it takes 3500 calories burned to lose 1 lb. So kick up your metabolism with foods that are harder to digest, high glycemic index foods work best for losing weight.

I agree with you need more calories. I know it seems backwards, but you need calories inorder to lose weight.

Ok let me revise I haven't lost anything in 5 weeks as far as the scale but I have lost a total of 11 1/2" at three measure points usually around 1" a week I guess what I'm saying is I wish the scale would hurry up and catch up with my inches cause I really don't see the inches as much as the scale I guess it's a mind game but thanks everyone

You don't say anything about restriction or fills?

I lost 12 lbs the first 2 weeks and then nada for the next 3.5 months. It took 3 fills and a visit with my nutritionist to really get the ball rolling. I'm real big on nutritionists. I know we guys like to hold back on how we feel about food(and other emotions) but a good bariatric nutritionist can pinpoint right where you are going wrong. It's a cheap visit for the results you might gain.

Seems like the ride is much less frustrating when you have restriction and feel less hungry. So, if you don't have restriction yet, get it.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
