Went On A Cruise And Ate Dirt On A Atv. Flipped Over Landed On Port Side

Recommended Posts

ATV through the rain forest after a good rain, messed around too much and flipped it. I flipped ofer top and landed on my newly ported belly. Not too much pain, but I had band and hernia surgery almost 3 weeks to the day.

Are the ports pretty tough, I mean can they take a good beating? I still feel it under the skin.

What do I need to do to ensure i am in good shape.?

See your Dr....

Sorry, but what were you thinking getting on ATV 3 wks after surgery??

I ride a Harley so I know it won't be until Dr tells me it's safe.

Really, I'm not trying to be mean, just WTH. LOL

I left my Dr. due to the nurse. SO now I need to contact True Results and see if I can get a new dr. I will NOT go back due to he on the staff, even though he is a fabulous Dr.

They can take a beating. Made of a soft silicone. I would think it would take placing the port on a hard surface and hitting it with a hammer to destroy it. But the most dangerous part is the fact that the port is sewn into the muscles of your body with sutures and those sutures are still very fragile only 3 weeks out. Better check with your doctor and maybe mend that conflict with the nurse. Otherwise, you're going to pay a small fortune to get another doctor to advise you?

why is it such a big deal finding a new doc? I have great insurance. Wouldnt it just be a matter of havig an upper gi done?

Easy to understand the tension we feel at these clinics. I had to bail on my first doctor due to his lousy staff. So glad I did. Had I gone through with my first doc I know I would have been at odds with the office. I think they're competent but it took weeks to get a simple return call. I'm much too impatient for that kind of crap.

Your situation may be different than most of us. I don't know anything about true results except I just googled them and I see they have many clinics. Most of us went to a sole physician so if we leave that doctor it's very difficult to find other doctors who will treat us since they didn't make any profit off the original surgery and they're reluctant to accept any responsibility if the surgery was botched.

TMF has it right...it's all about avoiding possible liability for poor outcomes. Just because you have good insurance does not mean that another doctor will accept you as a patient.

I'd go back to your surgeon's office to get your port site checked and verify that there is no damage to it. If you are still adamant about changing doctors...start calling around to locate a WL surgeon who will accept you as a patient.

If possible, I would go back to original doctor since you are happy with the doctor him/herself. I have had conversations with doctors or people about their office staff. I would urge you to talk to the doctor about the office staff/person the issue pertains to. I am sure you are not the only "victim" and the doctor could be unknowingly losing many patients. It has worked for me in the past.

Good luck and hope all is well.

Seriously, talk to your doc! Both about your accident (sounds like something I'd do) AND about the office staff. Tell him how upset you are and that you are considering changing docs. I'm willing to bet you'll be treated a whole lot better in the future. Good luck and let us know!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
