Ok guys so I'm one week banded tomorrow and just want to make sure I'm on the right track.

I've notices people at a similar stage to me describe that they are still very sore and not able to consume much?

I'm the opposite. I'm up and about my daily duties without much discomfort and quite hungry.

Whilst a Protein shake satisfies me during the day first thing in the morning I'm starving. It's 8.25 in the morning and so far I have had a coffee, tea and now on my second glass of a strawberry, banana, yougurt and skim milk smoothie!

Is it normal to be this hungry in the morning and is the smoothie the kind of thing I should be drinking?

Everyone is different, I'm one week post op today too and all I eat during the day is 1-2 little pots of yogurt and a cup of home made Soup but I drink loadsss of liquids during the day too like 2 cups of peppermint tea, 2 cups of milk, 3 cups of Water and 1 cup of low cal hot coco :) but 2 days ago I just was NOT hungry and had to force myself to eat yogurt but today I could eat yogurt and Soup. I'm up and about too, went to town yesterday to buy my mum a birthday present :) not saying I have no pain but it's manageable :)

Wow, I would be happy you've recovered so quickly. I'm 1 week tomorrow and still very sore. I'm struggling to get in my Protein and Water in. My hunger started returning yesterday, but I'm still limited to 4 TBLS a meal.

Have you been following your post-surgical diet plan? I'd talk to your doctor. If you are healed consider yourself lucky.

my first week or two was like that but i was told never eat banana anything that they are very fating and loaded with carbs... they told me to drink these myoplex lite shakes, vanilla is very good and i used it in my coffee as a Creamer with splenda and i felt energized and was not as hungry throughout the day. as well which is good dr. told me that moving around is goodjust nothing strenous.

I'm in the still sore, but getting better every day. I struggle to get Proteins in. I can't stomach the shakes that I could gulp during the pre surg diet. I am only eating yogurt, Jello, and broth. Tomorrow I can add more mush foods- hopefully that will help me. I simply can't get more than 20 grams of Protein in right now. I dread trying to! Water okay, but I am so tired of the artificial sweatener taste already.

Can you throw in a scoop of protien into your smoothie........might help with the hunger. I am not allowed to eat anything with seeds (strawberry/blueberries, for quite some time - maybe week 3). Try to get more protien in anything you eat, Soup, smoothie, yoghart, puddings etc.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
