I had surgery 16 August. I'm still really gassy inside my body. people don't talk about that part. Other than that, I can barely tell I had surgery. He went through the same incisions as my gallbladder removal and removed a hernia. I can't wait for the next 3 weeks to be over so i can start eating real food again. i miss biting into food. I'm also thinking of joining Weight Watchers to help with my weight loss. I didn't realize how many people were so against weight loss surgery, so i have to keep it a secret. I have just been telling people I had hernia surgery. I'm thankful that this forum exist so I don't feel so alone in this journey. i was thinking of starting a scrap book to see my journey through the years.

I was surprised too how many people seem against weight loss surgery. When someone asks me what surgery I had, I just say it was a procedure, and that usually ends the conversation.

I had a lot of issues with the gas too!! I spent a lot of time the first 2-3 days sitting and laying in all sorts of strange positions to encourage the gas to get out. I found that bending at a 45 degree angle at the waist while leaning forward (like you're reaching for something 3 feet off the ground) helps me burp! I'm glad you are feeling well otherwise!

A scrapbook would be a great idea and a huge source for encouragement and motivation in the future :)

Banded 8/16 as well. Did have gas the first few days as well as pain in shoulder and neck which the doctor said was due to left over CO2 from the surgery pressing against the Diaphragm.

Walking helped a lot with the gas as well as Gas-X.

I am mostly still getting my Protein from Protein Shake. I have added 1-2 eggs a day or canned tuna in Water or Cottage cheese.

I can now tolerate Protein Bars so I am doing 1 bar a day (slowly).

I plan to hold off one more week before I try cold cuts.

I skipped 1 week of mushy foods. I keep a food diary. I find I eat way less. I haven't had a full yet. Mainly been eating wraps and chili. High Protein. Lost 25 pounds. I cannot do hamburgers. I cooked one and it got stuck. No craving for McDonalds and burger king anymore. The smell makes me nauseous. I'm hoping to start running next week.

"stuck" food feels painful. It's a new feeling, so I don't really have anything to relate it to. You'll know when it happens, though. It's a pain right in the middle of your chest (pardon the description, but it's right between your boobs). If you try to burp, which can really help, chances are you'll throw up a little. However the food hasn't reached your stomach yet, so you probably won't get any of the gross acid yet. I was at the fair on Saturday, ate a few too many nachos, and was walking around and burped and threw up without knowing what hit me! Kinda embarrassing, but my dad thought it was funny. Think of it more like a baby spitting up... it's not like a full on vomit. I get my first fill *gasp* today, so I'll definitely be chewing more and hopefully avoid any future stuck-issues.

I haven't gotten into a routine yet for exercise... I know I need to, but I need to plan it into my day just like I do showering or going to work so it becomes part of a non-compromised schedule.

If I don't chew, food gets stuck. It's weird learning how to eat again. I have thrown up plenty of times. But like she said, it doesn't burn because the food has not reached the stomach yet. I walked a mile yesterday. Better than I have in the past. I'm learning to cook, because it is easier to prepare foods I know I can eat. My first fill is next week. I'm excited about how that will go.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
