Day three post op, I had a very rough night last night but, after I took my meds I felt better. The gas and bloating pain is driving me insane but, it is what it is I guess, the doc recommended gas x which I don't believe is working. And lortab liquid for pain. I'm really trying to increase my Fluid intake while recognizing the various sensations my body experiences, such as gas, bloat, soreness, nausea, fullness its all so confusing and then to manage/pay attention to what and how much liquid intake I'm receiving per day plus exercise is more than a notion!. I look at other people's post and it looks like they have it together. That's not the case for me.

I am 9days post op today and if has not been a picnic. Exercise already?? Omg no! I am hoping to add activity this week. Be careful. Little walks to help with the gas and soreness but I would not call it exercise yet. Rest and heal.

My surgeon made me get up and walk for at least five minutes every hour. Let me tell you, it sucked royally but I did it and I never experienced any gas pains. If you have a husband or even an older child handy, drag them with you for support and go take a little walk. Some people swear by heating pads for the gas too, but I haven't personally tried one. For me, the gas-X only helped with the gas in my stomach from swallowing too much air. Did they not give you anything for the nausea? If they didn't, DEFINITELY call them up and get a prescription, even if you think the nausea is mild. You do NOT want to get sick this soon after surgery and the nausea can become severe really quickly. Good luck to you, the first week is the worst, it will only get better from here.

I'm 6 days post op. Pain is getting better Tylenol helping during the day but still need something stronger for night. I've been sleeping sitting up on the couch the gas pain worse lying. Wondering what did I do and thing about my best friend food which I just broke up with. Is this normal. Have been reading some post and many say the first 4 weeks are the worst.

dear , you aren't getting enough nutrient to even allow your body to heal you do not need to exercise right now just some walking more for moving the gas and getting fresh air but in know way is it a work out program You are going to wear yourself out and you won't have enough energy to even get out of bed Slow down Sister(smile) work on getting your intake up and letting your body heal for right now and rest..hope I helped

no... not everyone has got it together straight after surgery. Everyone reacts differently. I think the main area of encouragement for you is.... just take each day as it comes. Post surgery brings its own issues, with each one of us slightly different but issues all the same. The soreness, gas, and feeling overwhelmed is all natural. YOu arent alone in this. I went through all that you are talking about here. I wondered what on earth i had done to myself and thought i would never ever cope with it all... but as the days went by, my body reacted in a better way, the pain started to lift and mentally and emotionally i was able to get my head around it all. I think that the main thing for you right now is to try and sip your fluids continuously.. rest up and try and relax a bit. i know this is sounds easy and it isnt but you have to give yourself the healing time and as your body heals your mind will get around the whole banding thing. You arent alone. Hang in there.

Got it together?? Ha!

Not me. But I'm doing exactly what the other post said. One day at a time. One hour at a time! Each is better. Yesterday morning was really tough! Today I slept Really well and feel like I'm on the up & up:) its really an emotional & physical roller coaster. And I know I'm not alone with this unbelievable amazing website!! Thank God for that! Good luck:)

Also, be careful not to get discouraged if others are doing "better" than you. Everyone heals differently, has different circumstances, etc. Personally, I have a very high tolerance for pain and didn't feel that bad post surgery. However, I did feel that day 3/4 were the worst for me. I was sipping too much/too fast I think and not feeling well. Plus, I was starting to feel better and food around me smelled good and was making me wonder about what I had just done to my body. I am now almost 4 weeks post op and it has gotten easier, physically and emotionally. Let yourself heal, first and foremost. This is a physical process and, for many, a grieving process. It will get better and you will be thankful you made the sacrifice when you start feeling your clothes getting looser and the scale reading lighter. Good luck to you!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
