im sure you have heard this before...Ii am re-comitting to using my lap band to

improve my health and diet. I have had it almost 3 years. Initally lost wt, the wt loss slowed

and now has stopped. I have fallen out of the health habits (eating and exercising) although

I do still have a fair restriction when eating. I have learned how to 'eat around' the band.

I would appreciate suggestions of how to get back on the 'band'wagon and start

losing again.

thx

What do you mean by "eat around the band"??? Like not eating the right food? I am just curious:)

And I wish you strength and commitment on your journey!

Do the 5 Day Pouch Diet it works and get rid of the garbage foods that allow you to eat around the band... you have done this before maybe try the pre op or postop plans .....learn to enjoy the foods that are right for you it's easier after those diets ...go back to your Dr if you need to if you need more fill. Just Do it like you did it before.... There is no secret recipe or plan so empty out the fridge and the cupboards and use the tools you have been given, eat small, and chew...Good Luck you can do this because nothing you put in your mouth for a few seconds taste as good as being THIN and HEALTHY...

Hi

I too am recommitting to the lapband and have had it 6 yrs. I lost most of my excess weight with it and adopted healthy eating

habits and exercised too.

However about a year ago I decided I could do it by myself and had the Fluid taken out despite the nurse suggesting I should

really think about it because I may regain the weight I ignored her...well the result is I am nearly 4st ( 56 pounds) heavier.

I have stopped exercising and am depressed as I feel unhealthy and a failure.

So I am recommitting and am to have my infill within the coming week.

I want the second time round to work as it did the first time and this time I will do as I am told and stick with it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
