How To Tighten A Lap Band Without A Port Head?

Recommended Posts

Model...I am just curious how the port came thru your skin...would you mind telling me?

The site was extremely painful for several weeks. One day I woke up and I could see white plastic coming through my skin. The whole port progressively came further out over a period of 2 weeks until it was literally just all the way out.

Yep, strange!

Thank you OTR Sleever and ready4change2 as being the only individuals to offer support.

This forum is supposed to be a supportive one and a bunch of people persecuting me for my decisions isn’t fair.

Furthermore how would you define cosmetic surgery' date=' which requires anaesthesia? That ain’t a medical emergency, it’s a persons choice. My trip to Mexico could be considered cosmetic tourism. But for me the freedom of not living every day with constant digestion problems and stomach pains was a godsend. The acid reflux was excruciating. Every second day I would wake up with burning pains. But the band physically stopped the acid from coming up.

And yes I had tried every elimination diet on Earth to alleviate my various food allergies.

I just want my band back. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ANYTHING NICE TO SAY THEN DONT SAY IT AT ALL. [/quote']

Mayhe you missed my earlier post? Try Dr Stephen Wilkinson?? I was a lower BMI and he banded me no problem. I'm sure if you explained your situation he would help.

Good luck and guys give her a break. Until you walk a mile in her shoes it's not nice to judge. Just sayin!!

I wish I could walk in her shoes at a BMI of 18.5. Plus granddaughter with tubes in her abdomen, not by choice, makes me a little bitter that she's not happy with what she's been blessed with.

Get your abdomen healed and be thankful your BMI isn't 42.

This is a very bizarre and scary situation.. Model I hope you can get some help with it because it does sound VERY dangerous. Let us know how it goes if it's not too personal!

I was supportive, just not in the way you wanted me to be. I was more concerned with your health than your vanity. Sorry that isn't what you'd like.

Model has NO interest in health issue regarding tube sticking out or low BMI. Strictly interested in self filling band and blocking tube from draining.

So if there's no advice in that area, Model does not want to hear your concerns.

We ALL just hope that she stays healthy.

I really hope the best for you. I was really trying to give you a helpful suggestion. I have worked in the operating room and with trauma so yes i would feel comfortable doing thisto myself. As i said before i am not saying go do it but just advice you could bring to a dr that coukd maybe help with a quick fix. Nwgirl apparently feels she know best in this situation and no one elses advice or wishes are good enough. I wish the best to you.

Don't you think that if this was an option the hospital or her Dr would have done it already?

What if her band is eroded and/or leaking elsewhere. What if she follows this advice and worsens or introduces a massive infection that then kills her?

We need to be very careful about the advice we give to others.

Its the difference between someone with their own ideas and agendas as opposed to someone with perception, sensitivity and discernment. Its easy to get on ones high horse and postulate common thought and to shove your views where they’re not wanted. However it takes intelligence to have understanding and a little bit of originality.

I didn't know this forum was for fat people who had undertaken surgery to save their life. I thought it was a forum for people who had undergone lap band surgery to discuss complications and other lap band related issues in a positive environment. I joined because I wanted to be involved in an online community that supports each other weight loss journey no matter what stage they’re at.

Thank you to the few that responded respectfully.

I went back to my awesome doctor on Macquarie Street today. He pulled out the excess tubing. He gave me the fill amount i requested. He plugged the top with a plug he had sterilized. Finally he chopped off the excess and pushed the whole thing inside. I now have a flat stomach with no port and no tube sticking out. I couldn't be happier.

I am (almost) speechless...however, will refrain on expressing my opinion, even though it is a highly trained medical opinion, because obviously I do not have the intelligence and understanding or originality to have a valuable opinion, and will keep my own views and agenda to myself until I develop perception, sensitivity, and discernment.

Best of luck with maintaining your health.

Good luck with it all model...I hope you don't ever need a fill, otherwise, how would they do it? Let's hope there wasn't something else going on further up the tubing...

The whole thing boggles the mind. I would think you might appreciate the oddness of your story and that people were/are shocked by it. Further, most people responding WEREworried about your health, both mental and physical. If you don't care for a wide variety of responses, maybe an open forum online community of fatties is not for you.

Yeah right!

This is why she won't tell us who her Dr is. She is making this stuff up.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
