Scared To Weigh In!

Recommended Posts

HELLO!

I go Thursday for a fill and am scared to go because I still havn't lost a thing! Status Quoe....Same-ol Same-ol... At least I havn't gained. I need some encouragement, I have even thought of canceling my fill because of pride and not wanting to be a failure in front of my Doc.

Thing is, I feel restriction, but 2 hours later I'm hungry. So maybe I am just eating the wrong things. I have to admit, I do have this terrible sweet tooth and wish I didn't.

Like now, I am sitting here and had 1/2 cup of broccoli and 2 chicken strips. S-T-U-F-F-E-D!!!! Not to mention the chicken didn't want to go down, PAIN!!

Well, I have til Wednesday to change my appointment and think about it. So I'll let you all know what I do.

If you're eating in accordance with the "bandster rules" I'd say you need that fill. If you're eating lots of carbs and not enough Protein, then I'd say give yourself some time to do it correctly in order to determine whether or not you really need a fill. From what I hear, being too tight is awful. And you don't want to risk damage to your stomach or esophagus, right? Sweet tooths are the hardest to battle with the band. Try your best to keep full of protein. It will help you not be hungry. And get all the sweets cleared out of your house so it's not so readily available. If you're like me, I can actually hear the damn stuff calling my name when it's in the house.

I've had to pull myself up a bit on this, I've had a long flat period of not much loss (must update my signature). But I realised I've been eating band friendly food. For me personally it actually works better to eat more, I'm thinking of lunch in particular, always a meal I hated, I never know what I feel like eating.

Anyway I'd been eating things like yogurt and of course was hungry again very quickly and picking in the afternoon. I've noticed if I eat a sandwich or something, not only does it take me ages to eat it so that I really feel mentally "done", I dont get hungry.

A few small changes and the weight is now moving again thank goodness. But I think I'm ready for a third fill and you should go along anyway to yours too.

Susan and Jacqui,

Well, I made a decision to go to the doc tomorrow and let them decide which way we go from here. You know, I've been naughty not exercising and eating junk, so I'll go get my "chewin out" done with and move on from here. I've got no one to blame but myself.

I am at 6cc in the VG Band and feel restriction, however, it lasts only a short time and I am hungry again, weather I eat Protein or carbs, and I still can eat a lot of food at one sitting. So... to the doctors office I go!

Thanks for the support, I'll let you know how things go tomorrow.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
