Was banded Apirl 25,2012 and about 4wks ago I'd got my first fill of 1cc the doctor told me I'll only get 1cc every 6wks . That 1cc isn't getting me no restriction at all :(

It will likely take several fills before you feel any real degree of restriction. 1cc of Fluid can make a significant difference in your level of restriction...and in my experience even .5 cc made a major difference. I still have only 3.5cc and feel alot of restriction.

My surgeon also does not do fills more frequently than every 6 weeks, and is conservative as to how much Fluid he wants you to have in your band. I agree with him in that I don't want to experience the consequences of an over filled band.

If they do under flouro I don't know why they don't do more. They can see how Fluid is moving through. I have had two 4cc each (although he says it doesn't really equal 8.. Not sure what that means) I still don't feel restriction. Some are more aggressive then others. I'm hoping next fill will feel. I know all are different. It's frusturating to me to think I have that much and nothing. It scares me to think if I had one of those conservative dr I would be well over a year and nothing. Good luck.

If you have a 10cc band and the doctor primed your band at surgery (left some saline in during surgery) then 1cc could be totally appropriate. 6 weeks seems quite a long time in between the first few fills, but he may have a reason for it. My surgeon was very conservative with fills, and I still ended up having to go back for an unfill after my 3rd fill.

I completely understand the frustration of wanting restriction and not having any, but it's always better to fill slowly and gradually. You run a much greater risk of shooting right past your Green Zone into being over-filled if you have aggressive fills, and doing that would only make the wait for restriction longer as the doctor tries to work backwards with unfills.

It's much easier for everyone to work into the Green Zone slowly than it is to try to mess with a lot of fills and unfills because you've gone right past it.

My Dr is very aggressive with his fills. It is also done under fluoroscope. I was banded june 11th,2012. First fill 4 weeks after and 6cc, then second fill 4 weeks after first one 3cc. I fell great! 9cc in a 11cc band. I am eating one cup at my three meals and i can tell when full. Best feeling ever. So i am just over 2 months out since surgery and really feel like i just might be in the green zone.

You are my idol and hope I am like you in two weeks. I've got 8 in two fills but no restriction. Maybe that extra 1 will do the trick. So scared they'll fill it up and nothing.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
