Another endo result-

Recommended Posts

I had an endo today. I have some heartburn at night, not much, and I thought it was caused by my tylenol PM. The endo showed gastritis, esophagitis, esophageal erosion and inflammed and irritated vocal cords.

I am now on Nexium 40mg twice a day and have to get another endo in 1 month.

The good news, my band looks good. THank god!!

Oh geeze.. I'm so sorry to hear this. Did they tell you what caused it? And were you put on liquids again?

I pray you heal quickly and completely. This can't be comfortable!

I'm sorry to hear this as well. It's no fun :( been there..

Esophageal erosion has nothing to do with the band itself, right??

From what I can tell, this seems to be quite an issue from being filled too tightly. Did your doc speculate??

Pati - glad you band is ok.

when you say esophageal erosion are you meaning Barretts?

Hopefully the nexium will heal you.. I know it has helped me with my reflux at night.

You mean if you have esophogeal erosion you don't have to have your band taken out so you can heal? That's great news. Does this mean there are various kinds of erosion related to banding?

Holy Shmoley... you really must of been having a time of it with all of that going on! It's wonderful that your band hasn't been harmed and I hope the medication helps you heal quickly and gives you relief from any symptoms you may have going on!

Hi Pati-o, so glad to hear your good news.

Please explain to us banded bunch what esophageal erosion means. Would this be like an ulcer in the esophagus?

I am not Pati-o but I can answer that... reflux can cause irritation, inflamation, and ulcers/erosion in the esophogus. The Nexium should take care of the reflux and allow the esophagus to heal.

Thank you everyone:) I don't really know what all of these problems are from. Since I work in the dept. where I had the scope, I was able to talk to the girls that were in the room and saw the test as it was being performed. They told me that the bottom of my stomach was very irritated with areas of inflammation, and that my esophagus looked "raw".

The biopsy results came back and I do not have Barretts (a permanant change in the type of cells that line the esophagus as far as I understand. people with Barretts have a higher chance of developing esophageal cancer, so they are watched very closely with scopes every year).

The Dr. who did my test is not a band Dr. just a general surgeon, but I am very comfortable with him, he is even willing to do fills and unfills, but only if it is absolutely necessary.

I go back to the dr. on the 31st to discuss my results (even though I know what the pathology results are-thanks to having the right "connections" :) I am anxoius to see what he has to say. I may be heading off to see Dr. Pleatman for a little unfill, since I've felt that this fill may have been a tad bit too tight since I got it last july.

thanks again!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
