They allowed me to go to bathroom 2 times. One was early when I had been laying down being prepped and one about 20 minutes from surgery. I already had the iv tree and sugar Water being dripped in. they walked me over put the bag hanging on the bathroom door hook and no issues. Some places put the cath when you are already out prior to surgery so you might not know.

No. They made me go before surgery. Surgery was only an hour or less.

I may place some Tamper Tape over the War Hammer just so I'll know..

I never heard of using a cath with band surgery...I did have one with my colon surgery, but that was a 7+ hour procedure.

No cath here. My surg said they only Do that with longer surgies, or if they had to fix gallbladder or something else when they were in. Depends on your downtime I guess. :)

I have no idea I was asleep. I didn't have one inserted that I know of and if I did it was removed before I woke up. I just had to go to the bathroom before I was allowed to leave.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
