Grieving The Food Already

Well I don't know how to feel today...I'm 7 days post op and have been so tired of shakes and liquids for the last 3 weeks that I needed food!

Last night I got some egg drop Soup and it was wonderful...today I have had refried Beans from taco bell w onions, sour cream, beef, tomatoes n cheese...and then later had some KFC mashed potatoes n gravy. Everything went down well...I just don't know if I'm ruining everything or not...ugh!

Help!

Keep your eye on the prize....and that is becoming a healthier you, enjoying the lighter body, enjoying your family as you become more involved with lots of energy!!!! food will not be your MAIN focus. Yes you may grieve at tubes and your emotions may be a little wack. But overall you wint regret this life change. Embrace it and empower yourself to know that you are doing this for YOU!!!!!

I am 4 years out and to goal, losing 88 pounds. I, just like the rest of you, mourned food. I cried the first month and wondered what on earth did I do to myself. I was upset, sad, hateful what I did to myself and did not know what to do. It seemed like everybody around me could eat except me. After all the pain was gone and I was seeing the weight fall off, I was seeing that this was the life saving miracle that I had been praying for. I am a food addict and have to keep in mind every day that I am accountable for everything that goes in my mouth. I just had a year of losing the 8 pounds that I gained the previous year and I feel wonderful. I am not on any meds and am in my size 10's and feel like I am on top of the world. Believe me it is worth it. I have been a yo yo dieter my whole life and I will be turning 60 soon. Keep focused on the end result and you will see that you made the right choice.

I too, am mourning food. I'm on my post-op diet right now which limits me and to be honest, i'm scared as hell (pardon my language) and very hungry for solid foods.

BUT, I KNOW that this will be worth it. I've already lost a total of 12 pounds which makes me grin from ear to ear and I know that being healthy will bring me joy and happiness that food just simply cannot

I am a year and a 1/2 banded and I felt the same way. Remember you made a major life decision to have WLS and you don't want it to go to waste. That is how I have to think about it. If I want something I eat it in a very small amount. Man what I would give to chug a big ole soda! But it isn't good for us. Being or feeling better is a much better feeling in the long run. I have to keep thinking that I did this for the long haul long term and wanting something now is a very short term satification. Know what I mean!? Hang in there it gets easier once you really start to feel the weight loss and notice the lifestyle change and get the complaiments from others and when the aches and pains go away. Just keep thinking "long term".

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

      Woohoo! I have 7 more days till surgery, So far I am already down a total of 20lbs since I started this journey.
