jddowney 12 Posted August 17, 2012 Hi, I was banded June 15 and scheduled for my first fill July 11. the NP had a very hard time finding the port(lots of poking and brusing) she thought that it flipped so I had x rays done ( I work in a urgent care so so I could get it done quickly) the Dr. looked at the x rays and said it was in the right place. YEA, So July 18(my birthday) he was able to find the port with me standing up, the NP then tried it and found it( with me laying down). Next fill Aug 1 took the NP about 5 minutes to find it. OK Aug 15 after 30 min of poking and she can not get it,she then stands me up and gets it. I am not numb at this point its like 2 inches higher than she was going when I was laying down. Anyone else havining these kinds of issues. My husband does not want me to see her again but I dont have 2 hrs to wait in the Dr. office. Next fill scheduled Aug 29. AJohnson05 21 Posted August 18, 2012 My girlfriend at a similar issue when she needed Fluid taken out of her band. Her surgeons assistant kept saying the port is on a diagonal or its turning and he couldnt get it. After poking her several times he was able to get some Fluid out but not enough for her to swallow her saliva or Water for that matter. I did get pissed when she said the Water went down and it didnt. When we got outside the emergency room she started throwing up so i made her turn back around and get more taken out and the same thing he couldnt find it, but he was able to take enough fluid out the second time that she was able to drink water. I would have to agree with ur husband i wouldnt go back to the NP ask ur doctor to fill you. I am lucky that at my doctors office they numb the port area so that u dont feel it cause im a baby when it comes to pain. Good luck to you! AJ
