Allergen has two sizes- 10cc and 14cc. The speed of weight loss is directly related to what you do. For the most part, larger people will lose faster if they are following the correct guidelines. I have seen large people on here who lose very slow for whatever reason and people with 50-70 lose rapidly.

I have the lap-band brand and it is 10 cc my brother has lap-band brand 14 cc?

Well, I was very heavy and the weight came off like gang busters at first! Miss those days. Weather that has anything to do with being very heavy or that I was dilligent about the rules... I don't know.

Depends on the brand and type. My Allergan AP-L ("L" for large) holds 14 cc's. I'm at 9 and am feeling like that's my green zone, but everybody's is different. I think the smaller Allergan AP-S (small) holds 10cc's. I went to the Allergan site and looked mine up. If yours is a different brand I'll bet you can find that at the manufacturers site if you know that information.

Generally speaking, the larger a person is the higher their basal metabolism (or base caloric requirement), so larger people will tend to lose weight a little faster in the beginning. As your fuel requirement drops because you're getting smaller, your basal metabolism will shrink too. In other words, the deficit between what you eat and what you burn becomes less. This is a greatly oversimplified explanation. but I think you get the idea.

D.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
