On My Way To ER Possible Gangrene

Recommended Posts

You guys are terrific! I'm sorry for not updating but I don't know if it's me or the board but I have the hardest time accessing this board!

Dh panicked and overreacted as he does in any situation he feels he has lost control over (I mean he called an ambulance to take me to hospital and screamed at the driver which is something he never does...saying youhave to take us to the hospital my wife has gangrene! It was the compounds ambulance and he was taking me to the medical center on the compound not the ER because he can't just take us to ER cuz we said so he has to get dr referral).

Ok so the tissue are alive and kicking, ie no gangrene, praise God!

I went yesterday for my toe surgury and informed the doc that I am to be banded in a week God-Willing. He postponed the surgury because he did not want to risk spreading bacteria into my blood stream (he knows the surgeon who will do it and did not say anything of course he is not my friend but he didnt look worried and in fact told me that it was a good idea to do it. when I told him that i wantded done at his hospital he said yeah but we only have a doc from jeddah come in from time to time and we dont know when he is coming back...if u dont know what i'm talking about read my latest post on my bind...not band).

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
