does anyone have trouble drinking water in the AM?

Recommended Posts

i just got an adjustment and i am trying to figure out if it is too tight. i am unable to drink Water (or anything) first thing in the AM. if i do, i have the most awful slimes. if i drink after the treadmill, it's all good. i can practically gulp it down.

i had .1 ccs taken out the day after the fill last week b/c i was in terrible pain. but i'm pretty sure that came from not following directions and eating mushrooms the day of the fill and one got stuck over the opening. but now there is no pain with the fill level. but this is definitely the first time i have had to be veeeeery careful with what i eat. so i am asking all you experts out there whether this may be an unhealthy level of fill. thanks guys!

There are several threads on this, if you just do a search. My experience is that I can't eat or drink much of anything in the mornings. It helps a lot if I have a cup of something warm. Somthing I've heard that the band shrinks up over night. I've had this same problem after a fill. Good luck

I just had my 3rd fill and i can't eat or drink anything for about 4 hours after waking up. I tried some chocolate milk a few days ago and was sick for 2 hours. So your not the only one seems that its common.

The nurse at my support group (the in-person) group told us to try a little hot tea to open the band a little.

She said not to do it just to over eat but to relax the band when it feels to tight in the morning etc.

Yes, Sometimes it is hard to drink cold stuff. I prefer to drink my coffee and it relaxes me so that I can drink my crystal light. So you might try drinking the Water warm or having something warm or hot to drink first thing.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
