Yes it can be discouraging with the scales going up and down. In my case the drs office scales were off.

Sometimes people do retain Fluid. I thought maybe I should explain better.

Just take a deep breath and relax. You're only seven weeks out from surgery so you're still probably healing a bit and just getting started on your journey. Even at 247 you're down 15 pounds which is something you should CELEBRATE!! Everyone loses at a different rate and has a different journey. Do the things everyong says -- count calories, exercise, drink your Water. Your weight is going to vary from day to day, and even throughout the day. It'll all even out for you. Good luck!

I'm also 7 weeks post op today! And I am going through phases where I gained a pound...honestly the only weight I lost was from my pre op plan....don't get discouraged!! I have days too....try downloading my fitness pal! Helps track what you are eating! Be honest with what you eat! I have read that some people don't start seeing huge results until a few months after! Be proud of what you lost! It's hard work!!!

Put away the scale. The only time I step on a scale is when I go in for my monthly adjustment. I know everyone is excited about being banded and to some degree want to check to see if the band is "working" for them. If you follow you doctors post op diet and exercise plan the band will work for you. Be honest and patient with yourself.

I think you should try avoiding the scale for a while. I myself am batteling the scale temptation but i have noticed that when I weigh myself only once a week I see a drop in weight but when I weigh my self two or more times a week my weight fluctuates and that tends to discourage me! Good luck on your weight loss journey!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
