Got my first fill this morning and zoinks did it hurt more than I expected. Nothing horrific but I'm not looking forward to that again haha.

Anyway, my surgeon only put 1 cc in. That seems like nothing... Is that normal for a first fill?

Also I'm feeling slightly naseaus after drinking is that normal?

Also could anyone else feel the saline? It was weird and hard to explain but my stomach got cold like when you get an IV. Totally weird.

I'm getting 1st fill at Dr pattersons office next week & wondered the same things. I heard they start off really slow as far as the cc's. I'm pretty damn nervous. Silly thinking I just had a major surgery. Congrats on your success so far :)

Hey Nikki! Thats who did mine! Figure out what you wanna say to her before you go in she's in and out like a jack rabbit!!!

She didn't use any numbing stuff or give me an option which was kinda a bummer since apparently my port is at a weird angle (oopses being too active too quickly) and so it took a couple tries. It hurt but like I said nothing horrible.

When was your surgery? Mine was July 11th. How you doing? Having a hometown surgery buddy might be nice!

Thanks for the heads up :) I had surgery July 25th. Feeling much better now. Does Patterson actually do the fill or one of the pa's? How are you doing on smaller bites? What a bizarre transition to go through, right? Anyway, I'm down to hang or get together any time :) I'll pm you my number

Every surgeon is different. My first fill was 3ccs and my second one was 2ccs. At my first fill, I definitely felt the coolness of the saline as he filled it. Quite weird.

Good luck and best wishes :)

Even .5 cc of Fluid can make a major difference in restriction, so starting out slow is not unreasonable.

My surgeon prefers it that way; he really dislikes unfilling a band that was over filled. I've found that "baby steps" with increasing the amount of Fluid in my band has been the correct speed for me.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
