Hormels makes 97% fat free chill with turkey and vegstables and it tastes good. You can put cold greek vanilla yogurt on top to simulate sour cream on top. You can do the same for refried Beans with rocotta cheese as well.

I thought we could not have corn, unless you are talking about cream of corn. If you notice that corn comes out in tact when you go to the bathroom and I heard it could clog your small opening in you band.

I start purees on Monday, Aug 20th. I just bought Hormels turkey Chili with Beans 97% fat free and it has 19 Proteins 1 fat, 1 sugar and I also got the Chili with veggies 97% fat free and Chili without beans which is lower in Protein. I was told to try it with a little of little cold greek yogurt for that sour cream effect and it will add more protein. Or even wit ricotta heated on top. The fat free refried beans is another protein dish that you can add greek yogurt or ricotta. I looked for canned fat free Soups and could not find any without Pasta or potato or barley.for my stage 4 puree. So my husband and I decided to buy kidney, lentel, black beans and black eye peas and we are going to make a bean Soup with carrotts, cabbage with chicken thighs no skin because chicken breast would be too dry in a soup. I will use low sodium bouiline cubes (spelling?) and chicken broth in the box and of course many non salt seasonings. I will cook it and freeze it. I bought fish in lemon sause that can be microwave in 3 minutes and it very good, which I had on my prediet. Can anyone tell me on your stage 4 with puree, can you have Snacks between the 3 meals and is your protein 2oz.

just want to make a comment on dry meats... i have a pressure cooker and it does such a marvellous job with cooking chicken, beef, doing soups... you name it, its really good. Not only that but a whole chicken cooked beautifully in just over half an hour... corned silverside, 3/4 of an hour... i make fresh bean and pea soup every day... takes about 20 minutes. i wouldnt be without mine. im finding it the best way to cook meats and keep moisture in.

Did not mean corn!! Sorry, when talking food---sweet is usually followed by corn around here (my town is considered the "sweet corn capital" & we have a "sweet corn festival" coming up). Didn't even think as I typed! I was thinking pureed sweet PEAS. Anyone have opinions on the taste?

...talking about peas... i use dried sweet peas for Soup all the time. i use them as a base and add Tomato , chicken, salsa, all that sort of thing.. pumpkin as well. I buy yellow dried peas and green peas. I also buy lentils.... i love chick peas... add these to Soups. you could cook them up and use them in a puree.... in fact they would be really great i think. Can you have onions ?? i usually brown the onions in a little olive oil first. I use a pressure cooker and the flavour comes through really well.

Egg drop Soup is a great idea

Is that dangerous for the liquid stage? It seems like it shouldnt cause any problems especially if the eggs are very thin and stringy within the soup.

My doc said I can eat anything that goes up a straw; wonder if this counts

Hey guys!

I just came up with an awesome post-op meal. I woke up this morning really wanting a smoothie but didn't have the ingredients. So I mixed a blueberry yogurt with a couple of strawberries and puree'd it into a sort of mush and it's very tasty and I think pretty filling. My doc says I can eat anything that can be sipped through a straw, so as long as it's blended thoroughly i think its A-OK

I am curious...your Dr used the phrase "you can have anything that you can sip through a straw," he told you not to actually use straws didnt he?

He just said I could eat anything that can be sipped through a straw. He didn't suggest I do so

I am not allowed anything with seed for at least 3 weeks, includes strawberries and blueberries.

I think you are still about 2 weeks out from eating taco bell. You could do damage to yourself and your band.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
