Lori Voss Green 93 Posted August 16, 2012 I am feeling really frustrated today. I feel so hungry. I've had some Soup and some sf pudding and some cottage cheese. I just can't get over this feeling of being hungry. How does everyone deal with it? Ideas? Suggestions? Been drinking lots of Water, which isn't helping either. wildrose1966 396 Posted August 16, 2012 i haven't had surgery yet, but did have my nutritional consult today.......you might need to get more protien in you to fill you up. I am not where you are yet and not sure I look forward to it but good luck.
2muchfun 8,927 Posted August 16, 2012 Yeah, you're in bandster hell my friend. Most of us visited that place and didn't like it. No one tells you about this before surgery do they? Well, the advice I got was to just eat enough to take away those hunger pains. So I did. You must be 9 days post op so you're in the liquid or mushie stage I would imagine? This is no time to be a hero. Don't worry about losing weight right now. Maybe drink more shakes, or consume more Tomato Soup? Whatever phase you are in, don't get so hungry you make a mistake and eat a sandwich or something dangerous like that. If you are trying to get by with a cup of juice or mushie, increase it if you can. Just stay away from solids for now. Maybe get some egg-drop Soup? That always filled me up. tmf 2 judych and DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! reacted to this
Lori Voss Green 93 Posted August 16, 2012 I am 9 days pre-op and was allowed to move to soft/pureed foods on my 7 day follow up. So far it hasn't been bad, today is just different. I think I'll try a shake and see if that helps. I am just so worried about eating MORE than a cup or eating too much.
Lori Voss Green 93 Posted August 16, 2012 What are some good, soft, high in Protein foods?
2muchfun 8,927 Posted August 16, 2012 The broth in egg drop Soup was really filling for me. You might also try some cream Soups or take some soup you like and blend it? I love the progresso Soups, had a southwestern chicken soup today. shakes worked for about 30 minutes on me and then I was hungry again. tmf
Lori Voss Green 93 Posted August 16, 2012 Ok, this is going to be a VERY stupid question but here goes............does pureed food TASTE the same as before it's pureed? I haven't tried pureeing anything. The idea is sorta gross to me. Does it still taste like the original food?
wildrose1966 396 Posted August 16, 2012 Greek yoguart..........soft, lots of protien
mybella 35 Posted August 17, 2012 Yes what you cook and taste is the same pureed. Say you made a chicken in tomatoe sauce, once it is made you blend it to make it mushy. how much are you suppose to have on your mushy stage. My nutrionist has a sample meal and she has 2oz of Protein and 2-4oz of chili. I will be going on my mushy food on Monday the 20th. I plan on buying the chili in the which is low fat and that will be one of my meals. Also refried low fat Beans, sugar free fruit cup, butternut squash which is cubed ready to cook, brocolli, cabbage and puree all of these. you can just get fruit and puree it. I read someone say they tried refried beans with ricotta or any low fat cheese over it and melt it and add salsa on that and it sounded good. Hope I am not making you sick. Also cauliflower can be cooked and mashed like mash potatoe. some people just get baby food. Just throwing out some ideas
Lori Voss Green 93 Posted August 17, 2012 She didn't actually tell me an amount, just said I can start trying soft/pureed and that I shouldn't be surprised to not feel like eating more than a few bites. Thank you for the ideas. I am not sure what it is about the idea of pureeing food that grosses me out a bit. LOL I actually, when I was doing low carb, used to make faux-tatoes with cauliflower all the time and loved it. I haven't tried that in forever, it's an awesome idea! 2muchfun 8,927 Posted August 17, 2012 I'm absolutely sure it tastes the same but it's too gross for even me to try it so you go first tmf 1 TampaGina reacted to this

meyouus 415 Posted August 17, 2012 Don't those Greek yogurts taste sour? I haven't tried one, but I know I don't like plain yogurt. Could I add SF syrups to Greek yogurt? Obviously I can add fruit. You tell me... 1 2muchfun reacted to this
