8 Weeks Post-Op, Band With Plication, My Port Is Sticking Out Of My Stomach?

Recommended Posts

I can feel mine and can also see the outline of it. If I'm laying on my side it sticks up. Kinda groses my husband out but I'm just happy that I've lost enough to see it!

Yes mine is easy to feel. It is a solid , hard , area.

Your comment that it feels like a pointed end sounds unusual. I can feel my port and it is, as elcee says, a solid, hard area. Could be worth getting checked out at your next appointment.

Its a procedure that works like the sleeve, besides cutting off most of the stomach they take and fold the stomach into itself and put a few stitches, the plication along with the band causes more weight loss, i've lost 50 lbs in 8 weeks, and my band hasn't been filled, look it up!

I am having port revision on Tuesday and the Dr can do plication at the same time. Are you happy with your decision? It sounds like a great idea!

I can feel it! Its like a pointed end that I feel, anyone feel theirs?

cant say its pointed but i do have a (hard) spot where my port incision is. you can get your doctor to check it out. i am guessing as i continue to lose weight it maybe more visible. OH well. I am just happy i am losing.

all the best :)

Yes I am Stacie, my dr doesn't want to do lapband alone, and the plication works with the band and helps it from slipping, I won't be getting a fill until my weight loss slows down, she said at least a year, but the good thing is that I don't have any restrictions as of now, i can basically eat what I want just not much of it, I get full really fast! The only thing is i get nauseous sometimes but nothing bad!

they usually sew the port to a muscle instead of fat. So the port doesn't move. I can't feel mine so far. I'm down 46 pounds and 12 pds since Aug 6 band date. Maybe when I lose a little more I can feel it. I was told mine is near belly button.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
