Gotta love those people! It is definetly not the easy way. I use to blab about my surgery all the time. Now I only tell select few. People love to rain on your parade. Keep up the good work!

Good for you a lot of people think that. You doing what she will not do she rather stay fat just goes to show how stupid people are her sister is probley banded and sitting on fat butt wondering why the weight not just falling off. It takes a lot of work and displine you keep it up my friend and as you lose give her your clothes and tell her hope she gets good use of them cause your not going back there anymore and just smile and wave as you go by her house. Best of luck you be there before u know it.

As much as I love my band, it was by NO means the easy way out! If anything, I'm putting more thought into my daily life than I ever had before. It's easy to be on a diet and decide to cheat and eat a cheeseburger or few slices of pizza. For my and my band, there is no cheating. Big bites and certain foods lead to some serious discomfort. Right now I feel like I couldn't eat unhealthy even if I wanted to! It's amazing how people think WLS is "easy". It isn't the hardest thing I've done, but it's by no means a walk in the park!!

Next time she drives somewhere you should suggest she walk instead of taking the easy way and driving her car!

Just ignore her. I'm sure she was just as rude to her sister. Probably her personality ( or lack thereof).

People are stupid

I was actually told by many people when I had colon cancer and was undergoing chemo and got down to 152 how LUCKY I was to have lost so much weight

My response do you want to trade places with me right now and have cancer….that usually made them run away……… People are stupid

That is actually the reason I only told half-a-dozen people, all sworn to secrecy. It's none of their business, and most who don't know don't understand.

But you can't let other people's opinion rule your thoughts.

I told no one except one or two people. Co- workers are beginning to notice that I have lost weight.I just say thanks and change the subject. But, one person said " that was fast! Did you have surgery?" I just said no, and changed the subject. Some people can be so rude.

You know it's not the easy way. We can only educate the world one person at a time and you have a done a great job informing your neighbour. Whether she chooses to learn the message or not is not your responsibility.

Keep up the great work!

I've only had one nay-sayer in my extended group of friends tell me I'm taking the easy way out.

And my response was, "So what if I am?" (Not that I believe this is the easy way out, ya know risking your life getting cut open and not eating solid food for a month and a few days every month after fills and having scars and having to take four Vitamins a day, having to take time out of my schedule every month and drive across the city for doctor appointments etc. etc.)

But really, so what if this is the "easy" way. It's working and I'm healthier.

Oh I hate that easy out word!!!!! Walk in our shoes it's not that easy! It's still hard work, it's giving up some of our favorite foods, it's a different social setting at times. Not the easy way out, and maybe yes it's a way to get healthy so I can live longer with my family...for our health.

It sure was the easy way out of morbid obesity for me. i don't see anything wrong with taking the easy way because the hard ways I have tried over the years didn't work. I don't really understand why people get so offended by it. I guess it's all in how the comment was said and how the bandster takes it sometimes. It may be sort of like the cup being half empty or half full..........

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
