Surgery Aug 7Th, Suddenly Not Feeling Well....

Recommended Posts

As I posted on another thread, I went back to work today but it was short lived. Lots of pain from just sitting at my desk, so I am off the rest of the week.

However, this afternoon I have just felt.......well........not good. I ache all over, nauseous (but not from eating), chilled, bit of a fever. I'm not sure if this is surgery related or me just coming down with something. Another thing, I have had hiccups all afternoon as well. Random, small hiccups. Does this sound surgery related to anyone?

If you're having lower back pain and a hard time peeing as well, it might be a urinary tract infection. Call your Dr. to get in to see him/her and drink lots of gatoraide, you may need more electrolites. This is what happened to me about a month after surgery with all of the symptoms you listed before as well as the symptoms above.

Not having any kind of back pain or urination problems. Just sorta blah all over.

Oh no...this worries me about going back to college :/ I just got banded on the 13th and I start classes on the 23rd, which means sitting through multiple classes most of the day...hopefully I won't be in horrible pain like you are :/

It's always best when you feel unwell after an op to get it checked out. Better to be safe than sorry.

I think mine is mostly due to the amount of swelling I still have. The incision for the port has been pretty sore for me as well. I've been reading on here about some people going back to work pretty fast....each person is different obviously. How is your pain right now?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
