Just follow the surgeon's directions and you won't have any problems. Buy all your broths,SF posicles, nonfat greek plain yogurt(Fresh n Easy), SF jello(no fruit) and have plenty of Protein shakes. It's better to have a weeks worth of supplies ready and have a working heating pad (shoulder area pain from gas).

I was Banded Aug 6, 2012.

Best Wishes and Good Luck. Keep us posted.

Thank you!!!!! and yes I did view you were banded this month and I hope all is well with you. How is everything going for you so far? And yes I will say that i will have all my supplies and do as my doctor says most important key is to follow orders. I have learned that a lot on here.

I have been doing great!. It's already been a long week since my date. I can't believe it's over with surgery and I get to use the tool. After surgery don't get discourage if you don't lose much weight. Remember there's NO fill in yet. And recovery slows your body down somewhat. Take your pain meds, they are important to sleep well and get rest. If you're able to take some days off, I recommend it. Aug 20 is right around the corner. I go to my first post-surgery doctor appt on Aug 21. Waiting too see how I am. Hugs

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
