This Will All Be Worth It Right???

Recommended Posts

I had surgery 8/9, still in so much discomfort! I know I'm not getting enough fluids in, I can barely do 2 Protein Shakes a day and maybe 24oz of Water, I'm having a lot of discomfort from the gas and now I'm feeling nauseas! This is all just making me feel miserable and making me question my decision. I am on liquids for 2 weeks post op, I didn't cheat at all on my 2 week pre op diet but now everytime I see or smell something I want to eat sooo bad! I know I can't, I'm too scared to anyways but I didn't think it was going to be this difficult!!! Anyways, thanks for letting me vent fellow bandsters...

In short, yes, it's TOTALLY worth it.

I know it' hard in the beginning, especially when you're still healing, but soon you feel normal again. Then, before you know it, you'll have a couple fills and be well on your way to better health. It's a slow, often frustrating process but it is so very worth it.

It's worth it, definitely, absolutely and without a doubt!

I am reminded of that every day in different ways - when I cycle 30km to work, when I shop/window shop for new clothes, when I eat out and make sensible food choices, when I stop eating because I am satisfied, when I stand on the scales, when I feel my collar bones protruding, when my husband comments on my hip bones, when I see myself in the mirror, when I dance all night and feel great the next morning.

Hang in there. This tough part is truly only temporary!

Yes, the band, and all of the need to be aware of the choices you make with food and how you eat (slow, small bites, chew very well...) are all worth it. And the part of your journey that you are coping with now was by far the most difficult time for me.

Please pay special attention to the amount of fluids you are getting; my being nauseous at this stage of healing ended up being diagnosed as severe dehydration and landed me in the ER. My intention is not to alarm you, only to ask you to be aware of trying your best to take in sufficient fluids. It might be a good idea to notify your surgeon how you are feeling...their practice should have evening coverage by a physician.

Best wishes...and I hope you will feel better fast...

You might want to consider calling your surgeon and asking if you can move on to mushies early if you are hungry. My surgeon told me to call if I was dying and needed food. My mother in law's doc let her have mushies like on day 3.

The way I explain what getting a lap band is like to people is by saying its exactly like going through a break up.

I went through all the stages.

I'm 3 weeks post now and I feel much, much better.

I felt the same way!!! If there would have been a "stop" button I would have pushed it! I started my creamy Soup stage early and the mushies a little early but I was very careful, ate slow and very little. I feel like that's what's brought me back to life. I went back to work after 4 days and was nauseous by the end of the day and had to use my medication a few times. I was banded on 7/26...it was probably a total of 2 weeks before I felt normal again. Hang in there! The emotions mixed with the physical weakness was brutal but t passed!

I told my husband tonight that maybe I made a mistake. Since he was banded 2 years ago he understands my anxiety and promised it gets better. I hope hes right

I was banded on 8/8 and I totally feel the same way about smelling food. My pre op diet I did great as well but the last few days I have been overly thinking about all my favorite foods and how much I want them. Its driving me nuts. Especially when I have been having crazy hunger pains. I like you have not been getting enough Water but today I was able to do more and I feel like each day I will keep doing better. Keep your chin up & just remember what your ultimate goal is. We will all make it through this together!

Totally understand where you are at!!! I was banded 8/10 and I'm dreaming about food when I not even hungry. I did try a bite of chicken and it hurt!! I am getting plenty of water/diet powered, but struggling with my potien shakes. I think it is more because I am tired of the sweet taste. I do good on the Unjury chicken Soup, but can only have 2 of those a day. I found having a shake around all the time helps. Aldo the same with Water. Just hang in there and don't rush yourself.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
