Redness At Port Site

Recommended Posts

An inch below my port incision, where my port is, the skin is a pinkish color and tender. The tenderness has been there for a few days, but the pink skin just started today. I emailed my surgeon a picture and he said that he was not too concerned but to keep an eye on it and if it seems to get worse, come in to see him. Has anyone else ever had this? I was banded 7/27.

A few weeks (maybe a week, week and a half) after my surgery, my port site and another incision got really red, raised and itched like crazy. I called and they told me it was a reaction to the internal stitches. My body was healing faster then the stitches were dissolving. I used Aveeno anti-itch cream for a few days and then it was gone. I was told it was a fairly common reaction. Hope that helps.
