Los Angeles 5K Marathon

Recommended Posts

Once again this year I walked in the 5K Los Angeles Marathon. IT was awesome again just like last year. That is just over 3 miles people. I think it is a HUGE accomplishment for me since I have not done any real heavy walking since before my Band removal in Dec 05. I was dying by the time I crossed the finish line at just under 60 min. Last year I did it in about 57 min so I am pleased that I still managed to come in under an hour. I swear next year I wanna run it. I do I do. LOL!!

Anyway, just had to share. We had friends in from Nashville who walked it with us and she took some pics so as soon as I get some from her I will post them.

Loads of fun today. Now I am so sore. LOL!!

The scary thing is I could have eaten a horse when we got done walking. Oh by the way the 5K was 3.1 miles but we walked a total of 3.5 by the time we walked to and from the car. LOL!!!

We took our friends to one of our favorite Brunch Restaurants. It is called Odyssey. And the brunch makes it feel that way. There was sushi, roast beef, ham, Pasta, chicken, omelet station, belgian waffles, all manor of pastries and Desserts, crab, shrimp, salmon, cheeses, fruits, mexican station with enchiladas and menudo and taco fixins, and MIMOSA'S. YUM YUM!!!

I had lots of Protein and only half a dessert which I shared with John. Two MIMOSA's and lots of coffee and Water. It was just a deeeeevine day.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
