saritin81 12 Posted August 12, 2012 I'm from Miami and got the band done 6 weeks ago. I got my first filling this Thursday however, I can eat just as much as before. I have anxiety and it makes me wanna eat so that's what I do. I've suffered from anxiety all my life and figure this would help. So far I feel discouraged. I haven't started working out yet because I have been working 60 hr weeks so I'm exhausted. Also, I'm guilty of making poor foods choices. Anyone have any pointers? I have to make this work. ☠carolinagirl☠ 18,721 Posted August 12, 2012 well, dont hate me because i have been in your shoes. but just because you can eat like before doesnt mean you should try not to eat over a cup of food at any time and make the majority of that Protein eating because you are stressed will only make you bigger trust me, i know you gotta be mentally tough until your restriction with the fills start taking effect that begins with you making better food choices. that you can control, if you want to. only you know that answer. all the best. 2 DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! and Maddysgram reacted to this
saritin81 12 Posted August 12, 2012 I agree. But that's why I got the band, because its so hard to control myself. But I know I have to put in more of an effort. I guess I just expected an overnight result like when ppl get the gastric sleeve or the bypass. But I'm hopeful!
mybella 35 Posted August 12, 2012 We all eat badly because we are stressed. Did you have a 10 daypre opt liquid diet and 3 day clear liquids before surgery. If you went through that process you may realize that nothing is worth cheating after that process. I say you eat correctly and drink 2 no sugar, no carb Protein Shakes a day and you will not be as hungry. Stop the sugar and carbs. Make the decision to do it and don't make the operation a waste. Kime-lou 648 Posted August 12, 2012 Talk to your doctor or a psychologist about the anxiety. I to have horrible anxiety. I am currently taking an antianxiety med that is working wonders for me. Between getting my anxeity under control and getting the band which is helping me lose weight I feel better than I have in 10 years. Get help with the anxeity and things will get better, I know, mine almost paralized me a year ago, but the meds have me back out and going strong. 1 kah1213 reacted to this

bigenuff 302 Posted August 12, 2012 I know you already have the band but sounds like you need to go back and research about how and why and when the band is effective .why would you think the weight would just fall off with out changing your eating habits?!? Did a Doctor say this ?!? Sounds like you are in "bandster hell" and people can be here for 6-9 months until they reach their " green zone" if you don't know these two terms start your research there. Also 6 weeks is still healing phase.if no body told you let me be the first. This is a long process,it is not magic, you have to work at it.this is a tool to help you but u have to do your part. If u eat the right things the band should help u eat less. Most bad stuff goes right through the band and the band can't help. Band rules My advice would be to make sure you follow the basic band rules. 1.no more than 1 cup of food 2. Protein FIRST then veggie then carb if there is room. 3.no drinking with meals. 4. Small bites chew chew chew 5. 30 min or less to eat.what ever is left after 30 min.stays on the plate Good luck to you !!:-) 5 Vsoriano2004, ☠carolinagirl☠, JLopez and 2 others reacted to this
lawismylife 41 Posted August 12, 2012 I feel for you. Remember a few things - you will not likely feel restriction for a while even with regular fills. You didn't mention how much fill you put in... Some docs are more aggressive than others. The eating with anxiety thing won't go away though... Even when you have restriction if you choose the wrong foods you can still eat a ton. Ie crackers, chex mix, carbs generally. You can drink calories. I have also worked crazy hours... This stinks but you will have to fold exercise in somehow. Either during a lunch break or 4 am or 12 am. Or find a way to change your work lifestyle to support your health. Might sound extreme, but I left a large law firm to make less money but have normal hours for my kids. Make your weight loss your baby. In the long term you will be happier for it. Good luck you will be as successful as you make it for yourself. 2 realestatemom and jrae reacted to this

fericito 138 Posted August 13, 2012 Be sure to get regular fills too and practice the tools that will help you once you finally have restriction (not drinking with meals, not eating too much, etc.). I'm about the same out as you and have been a bit discouraged that now nothing (yet) seems different. But I'm still obeying the "rules". Restriction will come and hopefully I won't be puking and pbing etc. because I'm already "dieting" until the band is working well for me too. Don't give up but also don't give in. Best of luck to you.
realestatemom 1 Posted August 13, 2012 I'm going through the same thing I have got to take responsibility for my own actions. I am 12 weeks post op & been stuck at a 20lb loss for the past month. I haven't been exercising or eating the right food. I can't do that anymore or I will never have different results as long as I never change my habits banded or not. Thanks for this post I really needed it!!!
