6 Weeks In And No Success :'(

Recommended Posts

I'm from Miami and got the band done 6 weeks ago. I got my first filling this Thursday however, I can eat just as much as before. I have anxiety and it makes me wanna eat so that's what I do. I've suffered from anxiety all my life and figure this would help. So far I feel discouraged. I haven't started working out yet because I have been working 60 hr weeks so I'm exhausted. Also, I'm guilty of making poor foods choices. Anyone have any pointers? I have to make this work.

Hi

I was banded in April, 2012. I am on my 3rd fill and my "hunger" ended with this 3rd fill. Are you on medication for your anxiety? I am on amatriptoline and citralopram for depression and anxiety. I am feeling better with each pound lost. I really had to force myself to get out and walk. At first just around my yard and now I am up to 3 miles everyday. I know you are working long hours but can you get some exercise in at work? Maybe stairs instead of elevator or park in the farthest space? I know for certain the exercise has been key to my weight loss. If I don't exercise I don't lose! I will repeat that no exercise no weight loss.(for myself) I am also on a low low carb diet. No more than 30 mg of carbs a day. This is really working for me. I have dieted before and ate few calories and never lost like I have on this low carb diet. My surgeon and his team put me on this low carb diet. I am 51 and started at 288, today I was at 234. It is the best success I have had for years. I am working very hard, I won't tell you it has been easy. The band does make it easier though.I am not suffering with diet starvation. The key for me is exercise and low carb diet. I have made poor food choices too. Now I do not buy or have food I should not eat. I switched to almond milk I make the best Protein shakes! honest! I eat chicken chicken more chicken and greek yogurt! I hope this gives you some ideas, and keep working, you CAN do it.

That sounds delicious. Thank you so much for your input. It definitely gives me hope. I work in an office so exercise, even if only walking for 30 mins isnt possible. I should be back to normal hrs in about 2 weeks so ill be able to get some exercise in. I'm def trying your recipe and try the low carb thing.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
