I went to my surgeons on Thursday to get an adjustment. I hadnt been there since February and had gained 12 pounds because I had no restrictions and was hungry all the time. I had 3 CCs in my band. The PA added 1 cc making it 4 cc. It felt fine in the office but the next day was horrible. I couldn't eat or drink without PBing or completely vomiting. My back was hurting horribly along with my stomach and I was waking up at night coughing and choking on Fluid, which I don't know where it came from since I couldn't drink. I called the surgeon and I came to the ER this morning. He removed 1/2 cc and now I am back to little to no restriction at 3.5cc. Idk when I'm ever gonna get it right.

I'm sorry to hear you went through that. I'm glad you are better. As you probably already know, the band can be very funny acting or as some have said, moody. One day you'll be fine with foods and the next you'll be struggling to even get it down.

Maybe they can take you up very little at a time. I think you should talk to your surgeon and try to reach a solution. What good is the band if you can't get the restriction you are hoping for without having another episode like you just went through?

Good luck and I hope you reach a solution soon.

Best wishes,

Lala

Thanks. I'm hoping to go back in a few weeks and maybe go up .2 or .3 instead of .5. I have several das where I have trouble getting things down the. The next day the same food goes down fine. Drives me crazy.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
