Hi Venessa, I am in Hanover Park, IL (south of Schaumburg, IL). Where are you at so far with WLS? I was banded on 7/25. So far it's been good. I haven't had any real issues to speak of yet but of course the weight cannot come off quick enough for me.

It's been a challenge adjusting to the new lifestyle and I imagine even more so once I start getting fills.

Hope you are well.

Thanks for the reply , I'm just at the point were I have made my decision to do wls , I have a couple fears I'm trying to fight but I sure that's normal :) I'm very patiently waiting for my husband to get his new insurance un Sept so I can go forward.

Dawn do you recommend a surgeon ?

Sorry, I never saw this post before or I would have replied. My surgeon is in Winfield out of Central DuPage. He is also the Chief of Surgery I believe at the hospital. He is AWESOME!!! Him and his staff are so patient, make sure you understand everything, they are very encouraging and he is awesome at what he does. The dietician is right there too and comes in my follow up appointments to see how I am doing and offer recommendations. My surgeon is Dr. Klem.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
