mommyvega3 22 Posted August 12, 2012 Already started my journey and I meet with my surgeon on the 30th to talk all about the surgery...but today has been a bad day. Went to go get dressed for the day and I noticed that I have so many new stretch marks all over my stomach that I'm in so much pain! For gaining 100 lbs in one year I'm so uncomfortable... I've been on prednisone for 3 years and the weight gain is so bad. I have been so strong about this because I know its the medication but going to my moms today.... I broke down. I am so looking forward to the surgery. . I want to just be comfortable and have a day where I go to put on a T-shirt I bought last week and have it fit!! Feel like I'm moving in slow motion!!!! elcee 3,341 Posted August 12, 2012 Sorry to hear that, it must be so awful to be on a medication that does that to you. What condition are you dealing with? Is it an auto immune thing?
spartanpower 8 Posted August 12, 2012 Keep your head up it all works out in the end. Just stay focused on the goal. You already made great progress by deciding ti get the surgery. That takes faith and strength. 1 Harrier's Woman reacted to this

mommyvega3 22 Posted August 12, 2012 I have severe Rheumatoid Arthritis and the only medication I can take is prednisone. I have a liver disease called PBC where my bile ducts don't function properly so it inhibits me from a lot of RA meds!! I did just get approved for a new Med called Enbrel and will be getting off prednisone in the next few months..glad because I won't be on it after my surgery!!! But it sucks because of what its done to me!!! But my kids and my family are my motivation to stay strong ...it SUCKS!!! But I'm doing it!!
Cazzy 725 Posted August 12, 2012 You know its the little things in life like just getting dressed that really cause us the biggest stress, and i used to go through exactly the same thing, i would get dressed then feel uncomfortable and ruin the day .. it does get better, after the surgery and clothes start to fit you again u will find that those stressful moments become less and less. good luck and hope the time goes quickly for u 2 kah1213 and running_scared reacted to this
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! 12,703 Posted August 12, 2012 Best wishes to you. I've been on steroids quite a few times and I know how wicked they can be, especially when it comes to weight gain. Hang in there, you can do this
erinsmcool24 10 Posted August 12, 2012 I can totally relate I had to take steroids just for a couple of days and they make you crave all types of foods. Finally my asthma/allergies became controllable. I break down also just looking in the mirror or if someone says a certain thing. Finally I have decide to do something about it by getting the lapband. I started my journey I have went to my seminar, met my surgeon, got my pcp to be on board, and found out my insurance will pay ( hooray). Now I have to go on a supervised diet for 6 months because my insurance require it and complete my psych evaluation and 2 other test. Good luck to you I know we will succeed. mommyvega3 22 Posted August 12, 2012 I can't wait to get it done....I'm so excited....I woke up today in a better mood..guess all I needed was a good cry with my mom! Today I'm putting on a better face and will embrace my "fat clothes" with a smile because I know its only temporary!!! 3 LouisianaLiLi, LiveStrong41 and meyouus reacted to this
erinsmcool24 10 Posted August 12, 2012 I completely understand, I have those days also. I’m starting to handle it alot better now because I know a change is coming. I went through a big depression for a while because after having my son I gained soooo much weight. I managed to lose 53lbs but I do need to lose more. I really think the lapband is what I need to get at least 100 lbs off or more. "If only I can weigh less than 200lbs" (that is my goal) I have researched so much and I realized the lapband is a tool that I can use and it fit my life. Im starting my supervised diet this month ( it has to be six months) so Jan or Feb I plan on being a bandster. Good luck to you and I wish you the best success with your weight loss journey and life
