Were You Sore A Month Out Of Surgery?

Recommended Posts

Were you sore a month out of surgery? Especially getting out of bed, up from a chair, bending, etc? I'm sore, especially underneath my breast bones. I'm not sure if it's from laying on my back or not wearing a bra because of sore incisions or because of surgery...

I am a 16 days post surgery. I am still sore under my left rib cage. I finally figured out that is where my port is. I occasionally sit wrong & feel a sharp pain under my right breast.

I don't know when this will go away, but it is nothing I can't live with.

I dont think I'd worry too much if the pain is bearable.

Good luck to you.

YES! I was a rockstar the first 3 weeks. Then on Friday, I started getting sore just below my bra line and the larger incision. By Saturday, I was miserable. I couldn't stand up straight, deep breaths were out of the question and more than a bite or two was just not happening.

It was bad enough last night that I called my surgeon on his cell phone (he said it was ok at our initial visit) and if I couldn't get him, I was going to the ER.

He said it is perfectly normal and that I had probably been over doing it. He said to take my pain meds and use my heating pad.

Thank goodness I still have pain meds. I took some yesterday and they helped almost instantly. This morning, I could tell I was going to be tender today, so I took some kid's ibuprofin and I have 2 small salon pas Patches on my abdomen (not on incision sites). It is helping SO MUCH.

I'm glad I'm not the only one! That's exactly where I feel sore too, right below my bra line! Ahh I will take some pain medicine, use the heating pad and I have some icy hot Patches at home! I was really bad a couple days ago too, bed ridden bad! Now it's just sore...I hope we feel better real soon!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
