One year ago today I was banded and it was the best thing I ever did for myself. I have lost 85 pounds and still have 80 to go. I have learned so much and have a new lifestyle now. I am social, happier and healthier. I work out 4 to 5 times a week I watch my calories with myfitnesspal.com It took me 2 years to finally make up my mind about getting the band I wish I would have done it earlier.

This week I had an appointment with lap band office and even have good restriction and weight loss I want my band tighter. I was telling my PA I feel like an addict asking for drugs obviously they did not give me a fill. My lap band office is conservative when it comes to fills. I had a fluoroscopy to check out my band at the appointment as well. The tech preforming the fluoroscope is 4 years out with her band but she made me very worried about having a slip. She said she sees slips and dilations a lot. She has even had dilations. I am a bit worried about this I need to make sure I am using my tool correctly to prevent this or is it something that will happen to everyone with the band? Anyone else feel this way? I am happy with the band and will be grateful for as long as I have the tool to use.

Congrats on your year anniversary, you have done amazing!!! My BFF had her lap band done two years ago and she has not had any problems with slipage. You will be fine!! Unless your dr. has given you some reason to worry about it, don't........

Keep up the good work. I get banded on Sept. 11th, I have also waited two years, maybe that's how long it takes your mind to wrap itslef around the idea......lol.

Best wishes for a great second year!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
