Yeah!! I Finally Slept In My Bed!!

Recommended Posts

Whew! What a relief I finally got to sleep in my own bed last night. I spent my first 3 nights at home on the couch.

All and all not too bad an experience so far. Has anyone else had a major gas and diaharrea (sp?) problem? I'm not talking about the shoulder pain gas thing just the stomach and intestine gas...sounds like the war of the worlds is going on in there..lol. I also have a hard time burping (think I'm afraid it will be productive).

I go back to work tomorrow...I should be a real joy in a meeting if this doesn't calm down...lol

I started taking extra strength gas X a couple of days before my surgery and it helped. So take it now. I had one bought a diarrhea after surgery - I think that was because the hospital's "food" didn't agree with me. I had one incident of shoulder pain that lasted maybe 10 minutes. And that was a couple of days after surgery.

I had the major rumblings for about a week or so...my family laughed at me because they could hear it all the way across a room, but it does go away fairly soon.

Liquid in- nothing out?

I'm so darn plugged up my eyes are turning .... what color?

Tried Colace, Benefiber, Milk of Magnesia - no help - drink at least 65oz a day. Can only have cottage cheese, refried Beans etc no real food - I'm not sure I should try more solids but I'm sooo tempted , any ideas anybody? PLEEAAASSSEEE?

Was banded on 3/17/06 and I agree with the rumblings present. I had left shoulder pain for 4-5 days but now that I included a couple of Protein Drinks, Slimfast Optima High Protein, there are such major rumblings that my son said he could feel them through the couch! Very charming. Just a note on the Constipation, some of the protein drinks have Fiber which is important. Maybe that would help. I took 4 tbls of MofM and it gave me diarhhea but my sister, who has irritable bowel syndrome, swears by the stuff if taken regularly 1 or 2 tbls a night. Good luck. I want to know if anyone has "urps" where it is like a sudden intake of air but no full burp. I had a hiatal hernia repair and I don't know if that is causing some of the problem. Also, how long does it take for the port site pain to go away??

I was very stopped up at first. MoM helped me, but it took two days of nighttime doses (liquid).

I'm a little past two months out and I have rumblings, burps, lower gas.. the works. Dawg laughs but I'm so embarassed sometimes!

For those having issues with Constipation, try a suppository?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
