Carriedaway78 0 Posted August 9, 2012 Hi, so I'm 3 years post surgery and today I had gum. One of the very few times I actually have chewed gum since surgery. I accidently swallowed it. I tried to throw it up, but it didn't come up. I'm scared because I always heard there's a possiblity it could block up in your band. Has anyone else ever swallowed gum with the band? Experiences? donna12 742 Posted August 9, 2012 I just been told it's a no no and you might have to have it removed. Hope you are able pass it.
Mjv013 67 Posted August 9, 2012 I assume it will pass like anything else. My Dr NEVER said anything about gum and I chew it all the time. Swallowed it once but it didnt get stuck. SO its stuck now? I would thing your body temp would melt it enough to allow it to pass. Any luck yet?
Carriedaway78 0 Posted August 9, 2012 I don't feel as if it's stuck, I've only had liquids this morning however. I will see how lunch goes. Thanks so much the reply! I'll see what happens. I guess I just got freaked out at first because that hasn't happened to be since being banded!

jen_1381 446 Posted August 9, 2012 I was told gum was a no-no but I still chew it occasionally. Call me a "rebel" I guess I'm just very cautious. It's the only thing to keep my mouth from getting dry when I run.
