Hi I'm absolutely having a band!!!!! Have done loads and loads of research and have decided on going to Belgium and being banded by Dr Philip Vanden Borre (he is the same surgeon that does the band surgery for wls) and after care with WLS. It costs £3100 for band and £500 for 2 years aftercare (unlimited fills). Anyone been banded by Dr Philip and had aftercare fromWLS ????? Love to hear any feedback.

I am going for a consultation on 16th august and then hopefully it will be all systems go.........I'm really excited :-).

Hi yes the price included everything, however I have a son who has autism and leaving him for 3 nights is not an option at present, so I have decided to have surgery in uk with WLS. September 11th is the date and if I'm honest I'm a little bit nervous :-/ I was so excited and could hardly wait for the day to come but now I keep thinking of all the things that could go wrong..........I suppose it's normal to have these thoughts. Anyway will defo keep you updated. X

Yeah, that is understandable, but ouuch, how about the cost? I believe it is much more expensive here in UK. I will get my lapband in Hungary in January, much cheaper there.

Try to relax and think of the the benefits and your new life after banding, don't worry now...

Yep, keep us updated!

Thanks for positive reply, I know your right and I am having it done but do keep freaking out a bit lol. To be banded in Belgium and 2 years aftercare would have cost £3700, here in the uk it is costing £4995 and 3 years aftercare. Think that's a pretty good price and it's with WLS who seem to have fab reviews and are so nice and helpful when I was enquiring about band. 20 day count down yikes ........

I hope everything will go well for you, well, actually I am sure everything will be just fine!:))

Yes, £5000 is about the lowest price I found here in the UK too, well, not cheap but it is all going to worth it at the end!!!!!!!!:))

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
