What Do Your Meals Look Like 2 Or 3 Years Out?

Recommended Posts

I'm waiting to be banded in Sept. I have completed all insurance requirements. 1 more visit to PCP.

I recently purchased the book "Weight Loss Surgery Cookbook for Dummies". I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone just getting started or thinking about WLS.

It takes you through the whole journey from beginning to end.

Good Luck!

I'm only 8 months out and I eat mostly healthy foods. Not much red meat' date=' cut way back on dairy and anything with flour in it. But I'm still in the losing phase. Most folks who are 2 years out will be close to goal and may allow themselves to eat more of the foods I'm rejecting but the band always reminds us to eat healthy and of course, less.

What can we banisters order when going out for dinner, say at Chilis or Ruby Tuesdays? I want to be prepared, I was banded July 25, 2012 and still on soft stuff. I lost total of 16 Lbs BUT, I lost10 of that on Atkins pre surgery only 6 lbs in past 4 weeks, I never dreamed I would NOT drop it immediately after surgery since your on liquids only.?? I won't get fill for 10 weeks. All comments Welcomed!

Chilis has some very good Soups. Their Soups don't make you feel like "all I can have is soup". I love going there and then my husband can have a non-bandster meal. (Chilis chilli is not my fav)

Ruby Tues. menu is a bit harder for me to find something on. They do have very good brocc/cheese Soup.

Applebees has some great soup/salad combos. I get the Tomato soup/ spinach salad combo. (If I eat the Soup first it works out best)

I also like going places that have fish on the menu. At The Outback I order the scallops ............yum.

I tend to stick to a fish type meal. I don't do salads well. For right now, since you don't have a fill, you could do salad. I, also, tend to eat an appetizer for my meal. I went out for my birthday to Longhorn, and got chicken Marsala that I ate for 3 days with take home. I will, also, get a meal that my husband likes to share with him. Best wishes. Karen

Anything but steak or any kind of meat that requires a lot of chewing. You're still so new to this that you could get stuck and that would be no fun. Like Hummingbird said, you can eat Soups and salads. I've never been one to eat out a lot so when I do I try to stick to chicken breast or seafood.

Chilis has a wonderful salmon with steamed broccoli I usually get. Most restaurants I get salad and chicken or a burger patty with cottage cheese, turkey or veggie patty if they have it. Chinese is pretty easy if I avoid the rice like shrimp or chicken with vegetables. I can eat rice but I am full in a couple bites without any Protein do I avoid it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
