It's a bit like when you are about to crash and your life starts flashing before you and you know that there is nothing you can do to stop it.

I don't realize I'm in trouble until it's too late. After having to have a 4 cc unfill last week, and finally getting some of my precious fill back this week, I'm vowing to be the most compliant bander there ever was. I don't want to play around with "so what if I get stuck, I'll just urp it up" anymore!! Now it's time to baby my band and take care of it so it will last for a long, long time!

So how to avoid that? And since it hasn't happened to me yet, how do you know?

Yeah, for me, it's chew, swallow(little inside voice says, dumba$$) and then I wait till the pressure starts.

Yep! I knew I would have some issues as I vacation in Vegas. My band fill was moved from mid July to August 2...right before vacation. I had my surgeon do a 1/4cc fill. Boy am I glad because I usuly have issues the first two weeks of a fill in that I can't always eat foods I normally eat. Band is a toddler and so am I!!!! It seems that of course the first few days I'm in full liquids but it takes the second week to slowly introduce my regular foods back in. I tried a half if a buffalo burger at Fuddruckers... Ain't gonna happen. My night was ruined, was on Zofran and could barely get a 1/2 cup ice cream down. However, I was in sun all day in hot Vegas so maybe that changed things.

My point is...take it slow after fills because it may change your eating and your habits as well. I am learning that I must take smaller bites and chew, chew, chew. Some textures do not work for me when it does for others. I think everyone is different. I can't have any type of bread or dry meat period. Good news is that I'm down 4 pounds!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
