Suggestions for med-id bracelet

Recommended Posts

I got my medical ID Bracelet from Laurenshope.com and I'm making my own bracelets so they are interchangeable with different outfits. My Bracelet says:

Adjustable Gastric

Band (Lap-Band)

surgeon's name

Surgeons hospital - Bariatrics

phone number of bariatric center

They can call that number if I can't tell them myself and there is always someone on call.

Maybe you should get the info tattooed on your chest :help: :help:

Guys, come on, do u think in the ER they would go about searching in your neckless and bracelets for the secret word??

What are the chances that you will get in such accident? maybe (5%), and out of that (5%) what is the chance you will get knocked out? maybe (1%) (VERY VERY little) PLUS you are not a cancer patient who's life is on the edge to wear such a Bracelet all the timeS

I guess you are over worrying, sorry I don't want to hurt anyone by what I'm saying, but relax, live normal and enjoy.

Go with what your doctor recommends and ask a local EMT....There is no harm in wearing one but, could be harm in not so why not?

EMTs and ER most definately look for the Medical ID Bracelets. My husband was an EMT. As a matter of fact another EMT on this website said to make sure the tag was one that had the emblem on it and wasn't just a charm because it's easier for them to find.

Just like with anything else in your life, go with what makes you most comfortable.

BUT, if you got the ID Bracelet, wouldn't all the others get curious about the bracelet, and then EVERYBODY around would know about our little secret (the band)??

i wear a medic alert id Bracelet anyway, so, no, people around would not think twice about it...

and medic alert id bracelets are taken very seriously in medical emergencies in my area of the world:confused: (TEXAS that is...)

hey magic,

if you wanna be cool, you will get one too!! and i thought about the tattoo thing, but i dont have any tattoos. i will have to dedicate more time for consideration on that matter, but if you can draw me a catchy tatt, i would consider!!:clap2:

I bought a plane medic alert Bracelet, and I wear it with the medic alert tag on the inside of my wrist, and I've never had anyone ask me about it.

Although, I have heard that if your bracelet is too charmy or pretty, the EMT or ER doc could think it was regular jewelry and miss it, so be careful with those. I put one charm on the band of my bracelet just for the heck of it, but that's it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
