My (not so) Secret Skinny Dream

Recommended Posts

When I am skinny I will:

Buy cheap active wear from Wal-Mart. And Target. And Kohl's. And Ross.

Buy expensive lingerie from Nordstrom or Macy's.

Buy sleazy, expensive lingerie from Victoria's Secret and Fredricks of Hollywood! (lol) :)

Wear high heels.

Go scuba diving in Cozumel.

Have professional photographs taken.

Track down old friends and acquaintances who never knew I got fat.

Go to the movies on opening weekend.

Attend every office function of my husband's job.

Learn to ballroom dance. Wearing high heels and appropriate wardrobe.

Get a massage.

And . . .

What's your secret skinny dream?

Oh, this is a great thread!!

I will...

Buy clothes that reflect my age instead of my weight.

Buy a bathing suit and wear it out in public.

Buy a pair of Jimmy Choo high heels - just because!

Visit my ex-boyfriend at work and let him drool.

Ride a rollercoaster again.

Go skiing.

Go to my high school reunion.

Ahhhh! How could I have forgotten the (soon-to-be not-so-dreaded) high school reunion! Add that one to my list too.

When I am thin I will:

1. Remind myself daily that just because men look at me, it doesn't mean bad things are going to happen.

2. Buy my dream outfit - faded jeans, white cotton button up shirt with a collar (tucked in), a navy blue blazer, and some boots with a heel. (a bit odd but very me)

3. Go camping

4. Go hiking

5. Take my grandson to the park - and PLAY with him

6. Attend a week long outdoor photography workshop in Yellowstone Park.

7. Go back to my home town and shock everyone (they knew me skinny and fat)

8. Sit on my husband's lap, facing him with my arms around his neck (I've never sat on his lap)

9. Wear shorts in public

10. Ride a horse again

11. Go on snowshoe trips with my mother (yes, she can outdo me!)

12. Attend a week long Portrait Photography workshop with Monte Zucker

13. Go to England to see my husband's home, and make him take me to France and Ireland too! :)

14. Wear a really great hairstyle

15. Get a set of nails

16. Buy a fancy red bra with matching panties (ok, maybe a different color for each day of the week)

17. Get another dog - has to be a Golden Retreiver.

18. Have a family portrait done - with me in it!

19. STAY THIN!!!!!!

20. Go stand on a tall mountain, take in a long deep breath of fresh air, close my eyes and thank God for letting me live.. I mean really live!

(not listed in any order of priority)

Here's mine...

1. Enjoy the bits of P'Nut's goals that make me.... nevermind :)

2. Not sweat while I'm eating.

3. Not think "Where's the damn elevator??"

4. Be even more physically intimidating than I already am.

5. Persuade P'Nut that there is nothing worth seeing in the UK (or the rest of Europe).

6. Not feel humiliated because I'm not wearing a shirt.

7. See life from more than the front seat of our car.

8. .... :)

9. Buy clothing in a size smaller than "Tent" (probably not much hope of that one, my shirt's won't ever get much smaller than 2x).

10. Take up archery again, and maybe a martial art again.

Note: dylansmom deleted the post she made which illicited the following response - that pisses me off more than being told to live life to the fullest, live in the moment, be all you can be, yada, yada, yada. I have no respect for someone who deletes their message because it wasn't embraced as an eye opening, life changing, revolutionary thought. Get a grip. I was nice about her response too!

Hi dylansmom,

Thanks for the pep talk. LOL, I knew this would happen and I appreciate the sentiment and your good intentions in bringing it up, but this thread was not intended to spark a discussion about living life to the fullest and doing what you CAN. I'm doing what I CAN and I hope that at least MOST of us here are doing what we CAN. I started this thread with the idea of opening a discussion about the things we want but have not been able - or willing - to do in a long long time. If ever. This thread is about the everpresent Secret Skinny Dream. Doesn't everyone have them?

Now that I'm banded I can actually consider the list as a possibility. That in itself is a dream come true.

This is not at all a scold - it's a release from being grounded - it's an invitation to dream. The only thing better than that is for the dreams to become reality.

Too Fun!!!

When I am thin I will:

Take the stairs...and enjoy it.

Wear a tong...on purpose.

Lay on the beach...without a cover-up on.

Be comfortable in my own skin.

Admire my own muscles.

I will take a hot bath in a standard tub with only my head sticking out of the Water.

I will use a camping stool, excercise equipment, and a trampoline without having to check the maximum weight allowance.

I will be able to relax around my daughter, knowing that I am setting a healthy example instead of poisoning her views.

I will get friendly with my husband in the woods

Its not many and I know there are hundreds more. Thanks for the fun thread, it's been awhile since I've seen something light hearted on here.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
