Best Smoothie Blender? Best Smoothie Ratios?

Recommended Posts

My Blender is not really making smoothies like I get at smoothie king. I am using the Gladiator protien powder and get to put in fruit in 2 days. The blender I am using does not chop ice well if there isn't fruit in the ice/water/powder combo.

Is there a blender that will chop ice quick without spinning it around in the liquid and not foam the powder into a sponge on the top half of the blender jar? I am using a good stainless base Oster blender. It has 10 speeds.

And another thought is what are the best ratios for smoothies concerning water/ice and powder?

I love my Ninja Pulse! If you buy it at target, it comes with three smoothie cups. It is the same price as the one at Walmart, but 200hp more and one extra cup.

That is a nice price.
:)

I ended up going to Kohl's and getting the Ninja Pulse system. It had 4 smoothie glasses and a 150 page cookbook. I opened a Kohl's account and got 30% off. I got it all for $50.
:)

This is a very nice unit and it can also do food processing with the separate basket and blades. Can't wait til I can eat Salsa again

So this is what i do for smoothies..... First i don't use ice. I go to sams and buy the precut frozen fruit and i put 2 cups of fruit in blender with my liquid Protein and one container of yogurt. If it too thick, i pour in a small amount of juice until it the thickness i want... I know this will sounds strange... but i get the juice in the baby food isle.... they are a little more expensive, but you only open one at a time and the rest doesn't go bad.

When i get fresh fruit, i take the time to cut it all up... apples, bananas..etc and i put lemon juice on them and bag it up and put in freezer....

hope this helps

Like everyone said, also, love my Ninja! I use frozen fruit and Joe Montana suggested using Joint juice in a smoothy. I use it in place of other liquid. I add powdered Protein mix and that is my Breakfast. Yummy! Karen

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
