Hcg Drops Weight Loss

Recommended Posts

Have any of you heard of HCG drops? I thought HCG was a pregnacy horomone, but I am seeing a few of my friends post of Facebook that they are dropping weight by taking HCG drops. My niece who is 18 was bragging that she has lost 23 lbs in 18 days - it took me a month to lose that after surgery- WTH?

Any one know how this stuff works or have heard of it?

I know someone doing it. I dont know much about it, but she said she was only eating 500 calories a day. That is in no way healthy!

I did the HCG diet last year. From January to May I dropped 45 lbs. BUT. I gained it all back plus 5 lbs once I started eating normally.

Honestly, the drops did absolutely nothing for me. They're supposed to supress your hunger - they don't. It's ALL in the diet. You're on a very strict 500 calorie a day diet.

Your body goes into starvation mode, and after a while you plateau, then if you bring your diet back up to "normal" the weight piles back on. They don't recommend doing it more than a certain time period then you go into "maintenance mode" where you are at around 800 calories a day. Still, not enough for the typical persons body to keep functioning and losing weight.

The weight loss was fun while it lasted, but I do NOT recommend this crash diet. I fully believe all of my weight loss came from the diet alone, not the drops...and honestly the diet felt dangerous (but I was desperate). I would never do it again.

I have also heard of these drops and it's true the diet says you have to only eat 500 calories. That's crazy. Of course anyone would lose weight if they only ate that much to me the drops aren't doing that much. It's only so long you can eat that little. And you'd go back to eating more and possibly gain some weight back. Just my opinion.

I too have tried this in an injection form(I'm in Canada) anyway before you decide read the book "pounds and inches" by Dr Simeon he is the Italian founder of the HCG die(you can google and read online)t. It is too hard to explain but the hormone increases your metabolism while stopping hunger and you do get a fantastic weight loss, normally 30 pounds in 30 days. You are not supposed to follow for more than 40 days and the food selection is very limited. Would I do it again maybe but I was very weak, hungry at times, moody and unable to function so if you don't have the time to commit to it it would be very hard, but as you know everyone is different.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
