I have to take a multivitamin 2x a day, sublingual B-12, and after a month I added calcium citrate (1000-1500g/day) since surgery. I also take Biotin.< /p>

I take a liquid dose of a multivitamin, vit B12, and vit D every morning with half a glass of low cal fruit juice. I also take the pill form of Biotin (I wasn't losing hair post-op, but thought preventatively it may be a good idea). Your surgeon and/or dietician should tell you specifically which Vitamins you need.

I consider my Vitamins a daily treat. I take the equivalent of a Flintstone multi WITH Choline (Make sure it contains Choline. I get the store brand at Costco- way cheaper.), Caltrate: Caltrate® 600+D Plus Minerals (chewable calcium), Vitafusion Fiber gummies, Vitafusion Vitamin D Gummies (I have low Vitamin D levels).

I also take Biotin 5000 mg (tick tack size), and an Iron supplement.

I was to told to stop Vitamins 2 weeks pre op and not to resume until 2 weeks after.

Did you have you consult yet?

I meet with my dietician today and I asked about Vitamins. She said that I should go ahead and start taking them.I told her my surgery was a week away and she said it wouldn't matter and to go ahead and start taking them. I thought I had to wait until after my surgery. I see my surgeon on Thursday so I may wait and ask him. I sure don't want to mess things up this close to my surgery day!!!

I have taken Vitamins all of my adult life so there has been little change for me other than moving to chewable vitamins and adding Biotin.< /p>

My surgeon actually created a brand of pre- and post-op Vitamins for his patients. But if you go to Amazon or Google, and type in "bariatric Vitamins, " you'll find a whole bunch.....I ALSO thought you weren't supposed to take vitamins before surgery (thins the blood). I know when I had my colonoscopies they didn't want you to be taking vitamins a few days before surgery, but I guess this is different.

Anyway, good luck, Wendy! :)

Wow, so many responses. Thank you all so much. Honk, my appt. with the dietician, psychologist, and nurse practitioner (a four-hour appointment!) is Tuesday at 12:30. I had my doctor, my dietician, and my phsichiatrist all write letters for me. My doc and dietician will be recommending the surgery. I am hoping and praying it all works out soon!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
