I am so ready for this mentally and physically.

I am just getting excited and a bit anxious. I have no idea how life will be thin, it is going to be strange to me. I have never been thin, it is kinda like my weight has been a barrier for me. I'm excited to see how different things will be professionally, and in the "art scene" (I am a part time artist). I wonder if I will be taken more seriously.

Has anyone else delt with this.

I have to take a deep breath during the day to level myself down from thinking and just enjoy the ride.

I can totally relate! I've been a chubby bunny ever since I was little, and I am sooo looking forward to becoming a thin person for the first time in my life. Just be mentally prepared for the changes that are going to happen with your body. A lap band patient was talking at a support group and she was saying she got scared when she saw this skinny person in the mirror. So she started putting the weight back in cuz that's all she ever knew. Good luck to you, and we can do this!!

I, too, can completely relate!!

I have never ever been thin and I am excited to head in that direction!!

Professionally I see only benefits (especially since I work in health care!!)

Personally, I am very anxious about how it will affect relationships with people. My bf in particular... we are so iffy at times... I haven't even told him about this!!

I've always been chubby, but transitioned to heavy when I hit 20... so for the last near decade, I've been considered obese. I'm extremely excited for my opportunity to transition back to chubby, and eventually skinny'healthy, but I'm nervous as well... looks are very important in my family, and so being heavier has definitely been a struggle for me. My husband is hot and cut (lol), so all of our family portraits have been focused on him - while I can't wait to be in pictures again, I know it'll be a struggle after being camera shy for so long...

This will be a side benefit of course - being able to keep up with said husband and our dogs, and work towards health so I can get pregnant is my main focus :)

Congrats and good luck to you all. Pre-op anxiety is quite normal indeed...

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
