I'm only a week post op but I'm going crazy. I haven't eaten regular foods in like 3 weeks, I'm so bored. I'm on the liquids now so I can have Soup, yogurt, pudding, applesauce, cottage cheese. I was lactose intolerant before surgery so all this dairy isn't going over well. Any suggestions?

Unfortunately, you're stuck white knuckling through it. I was on liquids for 4 weeks after surgery and thought for sure I'd lose my mind if I had one cup of chicken broth. But, I did it. It absolutely sucked and I was starving by the end, but it was my doctor's orders so I did what I had to do.

Have you tried V8 Soups? They're really good and good for you. No chunks, either. They have Tomato Garden, Potato Leek, and Butternut Squash. I really liked them a lot.

Also, runny oatmeal was good too. I had it in a ton of flavors. I was told as long as it's thin enough to run off the back of a spoon, it's thinned enough to have during the liquids phase.

Hang in there, you can do this :)

I know what you mean. To this day I will have nothing to do with Soup, yogurt or Jello. I was on liquids 2 weeks prior and 2 weeks after - It was nerve racking! Really just because it was boring! Good luck and just remember, life will be back to normal (as much as it can be) very soon.

I got the lactaid pills and tried them tonight with cottage cheese. They did work but I feel so full & bloated. Still have pain from the gas from surgery now with the lactaid pills it seems worse. Idk if its worse to have diarrhea from the dairy or feel bloated & uncomfortable from the lactaid. Anyone else have this going on?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
