I Just Cant Imagine Losing A Lot Of Weight

Recommended Posts

I feel like it won't happen to me. When ppl talk about losing a huge amount in the first few months. I feel like it won't happen for me.

I can totally relate to this thought, I keep thinking - I'm sure I'll find some way to screw it up!

It may not, but you can't dwell on that. If the scale is going down, then you're going in the right direction. I am 7 weeks out tomorrow and I"ve lost 19 lbs since surgery. It's slow, but it's constant. Weight loss with the band should be at a slower pace (that's what I've been told). Now for some, it may be more, but I'm quite happy with my weight loss so far. If I hadn't had the surgery, I'm quite sure I'd be 20 lbs heaver than I was before surgery.

Just take the steps as they come. If you start with a negative vibe, it is most surely to follow you down the path.

Good luck in your journey!

You may or you may not lose fast. EveryBODY is different. I'm a slow loser and have been from the begining. I've lost 75lbs since surgery (Dec 2010). I see people on here that have lost twice that in half the time and yes, it can be very discouraging. But you can't get held up on worrying about losing alot of weight fast, or worrying about how much someone else has lost. I think that as long as it's coming off is all that matters. You can be one of the lucky ones and drop weight quickly, but there is also a chance that you won't. Just stay focused and do your best. To me losing at a nice pace leads to keeping the weight off easier. I've "dieted" for 15 years before my band and always lost weight quickly only to gain it back and then some just as fast. If being a slow loser means that I can finally lose weight and keep it off, than I'll take it! Don't worry about the what ifs and about what other people are losing or how fast they are losing it. The band is about patience and dedication and it works for us all differently. Good luck and keep your head up!

Chances are you'll lose the weight. More people lose weight than not! Isn't that nice to know?

If you get the band, stick to band sized portions of a cup or less of food per meal, and change your eating habits to healthy ones, you will lose weight. Simple as that.

If you haven't seen a nutritionist already, I would strongly recommend doing so. It could really help you a lot to have clear food guidelines to follow and take the stress off you a little more by doing so.

Best wishes to you.

I get it. I feel the same way. I'm armed with tons of information and I'm still afraid. I have never been successful with long-term weight loss before so why should I now? But this time, we will have a tool. Not something to do it for us, but a tool. We can do it.

I am so happy about where I am right now, but if you break down my ticker from pre-op to now, only about 30 of those pounds are post-banding. Guess what, it doesn't matter! As long as the downward trend continues, I love it!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
