Slurpees....

Recommended Posts

I think i know the answer but then i'm not so sure so here goes....

Are the slurpees from 7-11 carbonated?!?! Man i could go for one of the sugar free ones but then im not sure if they are carbonated or not?!

My guess is they all are because that's how they stay so light and fluffy...Anyone know for certain?? :)

Are slurpees officially gone forever?

I believe they are. They pump co2 into the machine during the freezing process. That's why I stick to sugar free sno cones!

If they are it really isn't noticable. When and if I do drink soda I drink it half flat (Doc says thats fine as long as it's not bubbly) and I think the slurpee is less carbonated than my flat soda. Like my flat soda, I stir the slurpee around anyway so it flattens it and makes it a little watery, it's easier to drink that way. I drink a sugar free slurpee once a week and haven't had problems. And FYI, just because it's sugar free doesn't mean it's calorie free, there's 20 calories and 8 carbs per 8oz! So be careful, because I can easily drink a 32oz and not even bat an eye.. they're so good.

I'm 49 and never had a slurpee. We don't have 7-11's. I've traveled a lot, but never stopped for a slurpee. Got to find me one.

Actually, the carbonation is dead in slurpees. The freezing makes it flat. If you let a slurpee melt you'll notice there's zero carbonation.

I had one last month because I was craving the taste of Coke. I just had a small as a treat and it totally took care of my craving.

I'm not absolutely sure....but I think they are carbonated. I have had the smallest size, sugar-free slurpee. I drank it slow, but felt burpee...so I havent had one since.

I live a few feet of a 7-11 and yes they are carboated. But the carbonation is so minute, that you hardly notice, its basically flat. Like Mis73 said, freezing kills it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
