These tips aren't band specific, but general for weightloss.

- If you don't exercise regularly, start. And if you do, make some variations to your normal routine.

- Drink Water. It will help your metabolism be more efective, esp. if you currently aren't drinking enough.

- If you've been eating minimally, try to get in some extra nutrients - healthy ones.

- Make sure you're consuming enough Protein (60+ grams/day)

I try to change "it" up! Like you said, exercise more or do a different exercise for awhile. Eat more calories (if I am low) or eat more frequently. Usually my plateau will last a week or two and when I'm off of it, I lose 2-3 pounds almost overnight.

after an eight week plateu after christmas day emergency surgery I finally moved this week, I tried everything and nothing worked, dont know what happened any differently to this week than any other week, but ive now lost 8lbs since last sunday!!!

oh if only that was every week *sigh

lol

so I think you just have to count your calories and keep on keeping on, if you eat less cals than you burn off your treacherous body (mine sits up late at night and plots against me Im sure of it) will have to let go of the fat in the end.

For me, it's exercise that has always worked. Usually, I pop in my Leslie Sansone 4 mile Walk tape and get going. If I do that every morning (at least 4x/week)... that usually solves the problem. Netflix has a surprising assortment of workout DVDs... so if you have Netflix, it's a great way to check some out. Also, Collage Video has video preview clips on their site.... and great reviews. www.collagevideo.com

Another option is to figure out what you'd pay for a fill (for me, it's usually about $300 -$350) and invest that money in some personal training sessions at a gym (if you belong)... or a gym membership.

Also, look at what you're eating... write it down... just so you can see if you're maybe eating too much of some foods, too little of others. Also see when you're eating... how many meals... etc. I always did the best with 6 mini-meals vs. 3 big (well Bandster big) ones.

In the 8 months since being banded, I've gone through two really long plateau's. I just try to accept them as part of the process and enjoy wearing that size a little longer. I try not to panic when loss slows down; it seems like a natural process.

Good luck! Cindy

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
