WendyMay 13 Posted August 6, 2012 I have type II diabetes. Does anyone else have it? How does the lapband itself and weight loss affect diabetes? Thanks, Wendy

JustMeDee 34 Posted August 6, 2012 My primary doctor had me get tested for diabetes (waiting results) and thyroid issues before she will sign off on lapband. She said that if I have diabetes it wouldn't disqualify me from getting the lapband, it would help and that normally weight lose helps with it.
WendyMay 13 Posted August 6, 2012 Thank you both. I was wondering if perhaps it would go away as I lose weight and I might need to stop insulin while I am losing weight because, otherwise, my sugar might get too low. I am sure the doctors will address that with me. I can also talk to my endocrinologist about it. Anyone else have experiences with diabetes and your lapband surgery?
